Is it Spring??

Okay, so don't hate me, but this is the way it looks at my house!

Would you be quilting if you could look at this all day long??

Just the right spot

Not much quilting going on around here lately.  But I was able to get my sweet DH to put up this shelf in my sewing area.

It's been waiting patiently for the right spot and the right time to get anchored to the wall.

They say......

that patience is a virtue.  However when it comes to making a quilt top, I don't think I have much patience to wait it out.

As I stood at the design wall, looking at my Goodnight Irene quilt blocks, I just kept going.  I found a similar pattern in the book "Open a Can of Worms" by Debbie Caffrey.   I liked the slender border, finishing with the wider border of the coordinating fabric.  So I now will say Good Bye to Goodnight Irene.

Thank you Terry for the jump start on this quilt.

Valentine's scrappy cards

A few years ago, I wrote a tutorial on how to use your scraps to make cards.  I like using the heart shape for a pattern, so I thought I would repost this if you would like to make a Valentine's card.

You can find the original tutorials on my sidebar listed Scrappy Cards and Scrappy Cards part 2

First finish

of the New Year.........

Here is the completed table runner.

It was such fun quilting this piece.  I love how it turned out.

A couple of people asked about the star block.  I have made these blocks from this Quilt in a Day pattern book.

I've had this book for years, so I'm not sure it is still in publication.  Easy to follow directions, and the points always line up!

Red and White Quilt Challenges

red and white quilt show - Made Prior to 2014

This week Insights from SewCalGal is showcasing Red and White quilts that were made prior to 2014.

In all the years that I have been quilting, I have only made one Red and White Quilt.  It was a commissioned quilt in 1997 and the only I ever sold.

The pattern originated from Eleanor Burns, but I designed the checkered border.

I can't remember how large it ended up, as the original pattern only gave directions as a wall hanging, using 6 Schoolhouses. I saved all the directions and hand drawings in hopes that I would make another one.

This is going to be an exciting year of Red and White Quilts.  It will be fun to see what everyone creates.

From the post

What a wonderful package arrived in the mail.

These were a prize from Maureen Cracknell Homemade.  I was especially happy to receive these as I've not seen them in our fabric shops locally.  I believe this quilting publication is by the same people who write Mollie Makes.

Hope you have a happy quilting day!
