Do you ever feel that a new project will generate feelings of accomplishment? I've had a hard time following through with Blocks of the Month projects. This year I am planning to work on the BOM Mystery quilt that Cathy from Quilting on Turtle Hill generously sent to me.
I LOVE the fabrics, and having them somewhat pre-cut may be good motivation for me.
And tonight my quilting buddies and I visited a guild and heard Sue Nickels give a little presentation.
She is an amazing machine quilter. And yes her words of wisdom were practice, practice, practice :-)
Hope everyone is staying warm, and quilting, quilting, quilting.
That looks like a great project. Can't wait to see your first blocks finished!
ReplyDeleteOne block at a time and before you know it you'll be done. :-)
ReplyDeleteThat will be great! Pre-cut fabrics! You will get the quilt done in no time at all. Enjoy your mystery quilt - Hugs Nat
ReplyDeleteSome days are a mystery to me...love the fabrics, can't wait to see the finished project. Pre-cut must be wonderful!!
ReplyDeleteYep, I have trouble with following through on BOM's too. Love the fabric in this one. Isn't that the mantra for all quilting...practice practice practice LOL
ReplyDeleteCrispy
Awesome that you won that BOM...take it a block at a time and TA DA you'll have a top in no time at all!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see your progress! Sounds like fun!

I always promise myself that I will do one block a month, after all how hard can that be? That is why I am now working on a 2008 Block of the Month from Bunny Hill....Good luck to you- the colours are lovely, and I look forward to seeing your progress.
ReplyDeleteGreat colors! I usually don't finish BOM's on time, the last couple months get away from me, but I do get 'em done. ;-)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, whoever is speaking, or whichever book I read I can't seem to get away from the "practice, practice, practice" advice for FMQ. There must be another way, surely there's a pill I can take or something
ReplyDeleteI have a hard time with BOM's too. Love the fabrics in this one.
ReplyDeleteI love visiting your site! Reminds me of times spent watching my grandmother quilt. Lovely colors and patterns everywhere. Since I found you, I've been itching to start sewing again. A legacy my sweet grandmother passed down to me. Just wanted to pop in to say hello..and to let you know how much I enjoy your place. I visit often, but don't always comment. Tonight I just felt the urge to merge..ya know what I mean? Blessings, joy and sunshine, Terri
ReplyDeleteJocelyn, that mystery quilt will be lovely. You are one lucky gal -- you saw Sue Nickels in person!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am curious about the Mystery quilt blocks....do you just find one to join, or do you have to be invited?
ReplyDeleteThe mystery quilt has lovely colors and I know you'll get it finished soon! Have you chosen your fabrics for the next Schnibbles?
ReplyDeleteI always start out with good intentions on the BOM's too. I have yet to completely finish one! Bad me!!!
ReplyDeleteI have taken two classes form Sue of the years. She is one of my most favorite teachers and quilters! I know you enjoyed your time with her!
ReplyDeleteLove your blocks too!
