Well, here it is! The Sand and Sea with borders. I picked this fabric for borders because it is the beautiful Island Batik with fish echoing throughout.
The pattern calls for a 3" border, but I wonder if this fabric is a little too overwhelming to frame the picture? I could trim a 1/2" off. What do my readers think??
Well I LOVE the border, but honestly, I like it better in your last post without any border! Or maybe just with the inner borders for a more finished look. That fish fabric is wonderful but I think it might be a bit distracting. I agree you should trim 1/2" off and see how that looks. What color will you use for binding?
this is a tough one, I love the border fabric but feel it draws the eye away from your lovely sea scape glad I have not got to make a decision about this look forward to seeing how it ends up maybe your friend who it is for should give her ideas?
If you trim the border, you'll lose the fish. It's a lovely little quilt! :0)
ReplyDeleteI will say that the border, while gorgeous, tends to draw the eye away from your beautiful seascape. ;-)

ReplyDeleteI like the border just as it is....fun little quilt for sure!

I like the border a lot. It now looks like a framed postcard! A little seashell on the beach would be a crowning touch :)
ReplyDeleteI like it the way it is. The border frames the beautiful scene nicely, to me... but what it all boils down to, are you happy with it? :)
ReplyDeleteThat's a beautiful batik but I think it fights for attention with your peaceful beach scene.
ReplyDeleteI like it just like it is!!! blessings ~ tanna
ReplyDeleteIt's really cool, but I think it's too wide...IMHO! Interesting to read what your other blogger friends think.

Maybe if you use the gold color for the binding? Audition it to see. The fish fabric is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteIf you trim any off, you might lose some of the fish. It's fine as it is. Remember, there is lots more ocean than there is beach in the world.
ReplyDeleteI actually think that the border draws you into the sand and sea

ReplyDeleteWhat if you offset the landscape in the border fabric. Maybe 1 or 1 1/2 inch on the left side and top and 3 to 4 inches on the right and bottom?
