Tickled Pink


Today is my day on the Tickled Pink Blog Hop. If you are visiting for the first time Welcome!  Our host is Carla of Creatin’ in the Sticks. 

I have made lots of pink quilts over the years. I consider myself a "pinkaholic!"

For years I have used a pattern to teach a newby how to quilt. It is a single page that, I feel, teaches all the basics of quilting.

Start with three colors. Dark, medium and light fabric.

Sew them in sets. 
Cut them into 24 five inch sets.

Plus cut 23 5" squares of the dark fabric.

Cut large pieces per instructions.

Start laying out as per instructions. 

Sew them a section at a time.

Add the large end pieces.

Trim the edges.

You can add as many borders as you like. I am still auditioning for my borders.


This is how it will turn out. The thing I like about this quilt is that it teaches you how to view things from an angle. Plus many basic quilting techniques. Always press with every seam that you sew. You will find a much better quilt in the end.

Here's the directions for the quilt. The paper is old and well worn but it works just the same :-)

    That is a great quilt for teaching. Happy blog anniversary to you. I started my blog a year before you in March, so I guess we are a couple of diehard bloggers to still be around when so many others have quit blogging.

    That is a great pattern! I will definitely print it out. I thought I was a pink-aholic too, but when I sorted my stash by color last year, I found I don't have as much as I thought!

    Jocelyn, I think that less experienced to the fully experienced would enjoy playing with this pattern, I really like tie and I think I am something like an intermediate quilter. I couldn't get the directions in the spot marked"here: though.

    I've always loved block designs like this that look so complicated, but are so simple in the making...isn't that what all (or most) quilters want? Me, for sure! Thanks for the updated link. The pattern itself looks like it's been loved and worn, like a good quilt design should be!
