I've been doing a little hand quilting in the evenings. I recently bought a new leather thimble, but it feels too big. Does anyone know if there is a way to make it fit better?
Hand quilting is soooo relaxing, it's my favorite part of quilting. You might try getting the thimble good and wet and then letting it dry. I just use the cheapie metal ones.
I just started doing some hand quilting and have a problem with thimbles, they are so bulky and hard to work with. I had a leather thimble but it fit the whole finger, not that great for me. My husband works with leather a lot and if you wet the leather, like Crispy said, and then wear it till it dries it will form to your finger. Did you get one of those that just fit on the tip of your finger? Maybe I will have to try one of those.
Thanks for coming over and visit Micki's work space on my blog. You must have green thumbs. All your plants looks wonderully green. Enjoy your hand quilting. Cheer Natima

Lovely quilting! No, I don't know what to do with a leather thimble. I use Roxanne's thimble and love it.
