Welcome to Day 7 of the Sock Hop Blog Hop! I am the Happy Cottage Quilter and am honored to represent Island Batik as one of their Ambassadors.
Island Batik is hosting this Sock Hop Blog Hop, visiting various bloggers and Ambassadors to present their new line of fabric. We have each chosen a classic block to bring to life the new fabric lines.
The Nine Patch is one of the most basic blocks in all of quiltmaking and has probably been around ever since someone first took up a needle and thread.
This easy block is made from nine small squares. What could be more simple? Unique color combinations, optical illusions or three dimensional effects are some of the things that happen with seemingly limitless possibilities for setting and arranging Nine Patch blocks. What wonderful quilts they make!
The Nine Patch blocks can be set straight, or parallel with the sides of the quilt. Small squares connected diagonally across each Nine patch block results the overall design as diagonal. When the blocks are set diagonally, or on point, the design forms a square grid parallel to the edges of the quilt. The possibilities are endless when you add a variety of fabrics or combine with other pieced blocks.
The Island Batik fabric I chose was Johnny B Goode. A basic pattern for the Nine Patch can be found HERE.
Island Batik is giving away 2 Bundles of one of their newest lines. Go to the Island Batik blog to sign up on their Rafflecopter
And as a little extra giveaway, I will be giving away a selection of 5" charms of Island Batik fabrics.
Just leave a comment on this post to be entered in the giveaway. The giveaway will be open until next Sunday. Please be sure to leave a way to contact you.
Thanks for stopping by. Happy quilting and blog hopping!!
