Coming along, coming along.......

I have been so intrigued with all of the wonderful comments on how to best use my little green half square triangles. I loved the color combinations, but in the end I went with the suggestion Becky made about going backwards in the planning. Find a border print and pull a coordinating color.

I searched through my green fabrics, with not much results. Then I thought about looking through some novelty prints. I finally found something that might work! A green floral with a little bit of pink. I also found more of the dark green, although it is a different pattern, the color matches perfectly. And low and behold, there was a left over 13 x 14" piece with all different herbs.

Here are the HST's shaping into a nice little block.

And here is the first block!

It looks like I have enough HST's to make 4 blocks. I can then add the floral border and use the dark green for the binding.

Yep it's coming along :-) Thanks so much for your wonderful suggestions.

Where does the time go??

Here it is Wednesday already! And what have I accomplished so far this week?

I have been reading all the comments from Mondays post about what to do with my little HST, and the suggestions are amazing. I've considered each one, and I think I may have come up with a way to use the little green triangles.

More on that later.

And yesterday was a sewing day with the buddies.

It sure motivates me to work on projects when I've got someone to sew with. It's fun to catch up with everyone and get some quilting done too.

And an update on my Google Reader. Ö¿Ö¬
I've gone into my dashboard and looked at the blogs I am following. Several were dormant blogs, so I have deleted them from the list. Someone mentioned in a comment that I might get multiple posts when the reader caught up, and sure enough it happened this morning. One blog that I was not receiving their new posts appeared in my reader with 5 posts. So there may be reasons why my Reader has overlooked some posts that I follow, but I sure hate missing the ones I am subscribed to.

Hope the sun is shining in your end of the world! Happy Quilting :-)

Suggestions please

I have a nice stack of HST's that were cut from another project. Too many to just throw away ;-) Remember when I made this little quilt?

I like the way the red and black went together, but the green has me stumped. I think I would like to use more than just green and white. Any color ideas? Patterns??

And I was wondering if any of you are having trouble with your google reader? I follow quite a few blogs on the reader, but I have noticed lately that they don't all seem to be coming through. Some days I might be blog hopping and find a post that I never read. It also appears that some of the blogs I follow regularly are missing. You know, like I was signed up already, but now it's missing from my reader. Any thoughts? Blogger seems to be going through some changes, but no one has mentioned anything about the Reader.

Have a great quilty day!

Just how many shades

of red are there?

Remember when I had the bleeding red fabric? I normally pre-wash my larger pieces of fabric, but that time I was in a hurry. In the past I always would pre-wash my red fabrics, as they do tend to bleed.

Case in point. I am gathering up fabric for the red and white quilt I'd like to make for my new sofa.

So this time I threw a color catcher into the wash load with these red fabrics.

WOW! What a deep shade of pink.

So feeling that this was a lot of dye that was released from the fabric, I decided I would run the reds through another load.

Yep, color catcher gave me another lovely sheet of pinks.

So next time you will be using reds in your quilt, do you think you would pre-wash the fabric, or take the chance??

What kind of stitch??

Last Friday my quilting buddies and I went to the local Quilt show. We had a fun day looking at quilts and then we went to the Knitting shop.

We have all tried our hand at knitting, but one gal in our group has taken to it so well. She made her first sweater! We all ooo and ahhh'd over her beautiful creation.

Way to go Becky!!
