Parlez-vous français?

A couple of years ago, I traveled with my hubby to Georgia.  We stopped in a little town in Central Georgia and found a little quilt shop there.

As I was looking around I fell in love with this quilt.

They were sold out of the pattern, but the lady in the quilt shop told me the name of the quilt was Dolly's Garden.

When I returned home, I did a google search and found this was a Bunny Hill pattern.  Loving it as much as I did, I ordered the pattern from Bunny Hill.

When I received the pattern, the biggest question I had was what fabric to use??

I never found anything that I thought would be the perfect fit,UNTIL Fat Quarter Shop introduced Paris Flea Market by 3 Sisters.  YES!!  This was it!!

Now have you ever played Pattern Play on the Fat Quarter Shop blog??  I've played along when they feature a new designer.  And guess what?  I won a $50 gift certificate to their shop!  Woo-hoo!!

So now, can you guess what I purchased?

Oooo la, la............

The pattern calls for a bit of blue, but Paris Flea Market does not have blue, so I dug around in my stash and found some Aviary by 3 Sisters, that I think will be a perfect marriage with Paris Flea Market.

N is for Neutrals

When the latest catalog for Connecting Threads arrived in my mailbox, I was immediately taken by their Neutral Love fabric line.

These fabrics are such a great selection to add neutrals to your stash.  I never tire of these colors.

At a recent quilt show, I bought a pattern to make a masculine quilt, and I know I can certainly use some of these great colors.

My plan is to make this quilt in Blues and Browns.

I learned long ago, that Connecting Threads fabrics can sometimes go like hot cakes, so I put my order in right away.  When the box arrived, I was so glad that I went ahead and ordered this collection.  Because when they are gone......they are gone!

Happy Quilting!

Mini Quilt show

Here are a few more the quilts from the local quilt show.  There was quite a diverse selection displayed of traditional, modern and just plain fun quilts.

Isn't this amazing?  So many dressed up cats :-)

My favorite was the quilter.

This was such an elegant piece.

I had to show you the detail on this peacock.

 Some modern quilts.

I was stunned to know that this next quilt was made with ties.

We met the lady who made this quilt.  She started making it a year ago, using her husbands ties.  In April of last year, her husband died suddenly.  So this quilt has become a tribute to him.

The quilting was beautiful.

I hope you enjoyed the mini quilt show.

Quilts From the Heart

A week ago, my sister in love and I visited the local quilt show.  It was a nice show, however the lighting was not very good, and there were not many vendors.  We still enjoyed seeing the quilts that are displayed.  I took quite a few pictures, but I don't want to put them all on one post.  So I will spread them out.

The theme was Quilts From the Heart -

Not all the quilts carried the Heart theme.

More next time.................
