Baby on the way

 This weekend I attended a baby shower. I had history with the mother to be. I knew her family for years. As a matter of fact, I knew them before this little mom was born! Her big brother was my son's best friend. So all that to say, it was nice to honor her with a shower. 

A baby girl is due in early June. So I made her a quilt.

Finally - a finish

 Years and years (and years) ago, I started on this little quilt. Mostly because I wanted to see how it would play out.

I had never made a quilt like this before and I really liked it. But as with other things, it sat in my UFO pile. But when I found it again, I just wanted to finish it.  So it is now quilted and bound.

The Classics

I read a lot of contemporary novels for review. But I fell in love with the classics several years ago.

Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice stole my heart. The love story between Elizabeth Bennett and Mr. Darcy wrapped me up in their emotional interludes. Love/hate/misunderstandings/reconciliation/happy ending. How could I ask for more?

And then there was Emma,

the spoiled country girl who tried to be the matchmaker. Only to find that it was she who would lose in love. Ah! But there is also another happy ending.

Sense and Sensibility............

Two sisters, two loves, two broken hearts, two happy endings.

Jane Austen is not the only author I favor.

I listened to "Little Women" CD's. I found this to be a most enjoyable book. With so many characters and story lines. The book has so much more depth then the movies.

And speaking of movies, several years ago I watched "North and South", a PBS made for TV movie. I thought the production was good, and ventured to find the book. It was very elusive. I finally came across a paperback copy.

I'm telling you, I was gripped by this story. The movie is nothing compared to the story of Margaret and Mr. Thornton. One reason I love to read these old classics, is that their emotions are written in such beautiful detail, and yet there is nothing unsavory.

Delivered quilts

 The Quilts we were working on for the Nursing Home have been delivered. 

They were so appreciative and ooh and ahh's over them.

The director and staff were very grateful.

I'm so glad we were able to bring a smile to the faces of the residents.

Quilters World

 Have you seen the Spring edition of Quilters World?

I love that they have devoted a whole edition to Precuts.

There are a couple by Wendy Sheppard.

And the others are really great. Some using Jelly Rolls.

I like it when there are several patterns that I can use in one edition.

Checking in H2H

 Hands2Help Challenge is starting the check in. We are sharing quilts for charities that are sponsored by Sarah of Confessions of a Fabric Addict. I always look forward to this challenge each year. Here are some that I am working on.

One is completed and another is from last year that I had started but could not complete the binding  after I fell and broke my shoulder.  You can check out the other quilters donations on Sarah's website.
