Meet Me in The Margins

 

What a delightful story. Melissa Ferguson writes witty rom-com novels. Although I felt the first 40 pages were a little slow start for me, it quickly picked up the pace.

Savannah Cade is an assistant acquisitions editor for a small publishing house, who publishes non-fiction titles. Savannah has written a romance novel, which the owner, Ms Pennington frowns upon. Her son, William comes on board to run Pennington Publishing, trying to turn the company around. 

When Savannah accidently leaves her manuscript in the "hidden" room, someone starts to edit the pages. Which starts the mystery of, who is taking the time to do the editing. Correspondence interacts between the two writers, which leaves Savannah wondering yet again, who is this mystery editor.

It is really a fun read. The characters and dialogue leave you laughing out loud. The relationship between Savannah and her obsessive compulsive sister brought a new twist to the story. All in all, it was a clean heartwarming story.

Making dinosaurs

And I am madly trying to finish a quilt for my 4 year old grandson who celebrated a birthday yesterday.

He loves dinosaurs, so it's dinosaurs for him. Roar .... :-)

Clearwater

Saturday we decided to take a drive over to Clearwater Florida. 

It might not have been the best idea to go on a Saturday but by the time we got there we were already committed.

The traffic was unbelievable! 

So we crawled across the bridge. 

Finally making our way down by the beach. It is so sad to say all these years have brought nothing but construction along the beach. 

This is the only view you can see of the beach. When I was a teenager we used to drive over to Clearwater beach. You could park right at the beach and see for miles. Now all you see is condos!

But our main purpose was to eat!

And let me tell  you, it was well worth the drive!

Fall fabric giveaway

Talking with God

 

How important is it to talk with God? This short practical plan for personal prayer is a great book in understanding the importance of prayer. 

If you have ever wondered if you are doing it right, Talking with God by Dick Eastman explains the twelve elements of prayer. Praise, Waiting, Confession, Scripture Praying, Watching, Intercession, Petition, Thanksgiving, Singing, Mediation, Listening, and Praise again. The author explains why it is important, and gives biblical examples of how it is done. Thought provoking and inspiring. East to read. He includes prayers at the end of each chapter with scripture verses to help you along. Taking focus off of ourselves, and directing them towards God. For years I have used ACTS as a prompt for prayer, but this book gives a more in-depth an insightful look.

Block Party

 I recently came across two lone blocks. I have no idea when I made them or what they were for. But  decided they needed a home.

As three would be better than two, I made another block getting a simple pattern from the Block Party book.

Looking through the book, I found a pattern for a table runner that looked like it might work. 

Now to find fabric to match.

Heirs of Falcon Point

 

Wow! This book was amazing. When you consider there are four authors writing this story, you wonder how they could manage such a flawless novel.

1940 Austria. The Nazi's are pushing Leopold Lang to join forces. He is against everything they stand for. His efforts to get his three children safely away, leaving their estate, Falcon Point behind, before the Nazi's completely take over.

Karl, Ingrid, and Ana, being separated during their escape, lose touch and wonder if any of the siblings survived. Decades later, after searching for years for relatives, the descendants of Leopold meet up. The drama and suspense is heart pounding.  

This is such a gripping well written story. I commend Traci Hunter Abramson, Sian Ann Bessey, Paige Edwards, and A. L. Sowards. It was a story unlike any I have ever read. Historical and contemporary fiction. Clean, absorbing and compelling.

Organization

 My sister in law started using the comic book boards to organize her fabric. I couldn't see doing that. Just didn't know if it would make much of difference.  

But then I began to see the light! When I was looking for a fabric and could not find it, it made sense to try to organize. 

The mess ...........

I have been using these IKEA bins for my fabric, and as you can see, it isn't really working.

So I bought a stack of 100 comic book boards and started wrapping the fabric. 

This isn't the best but it will work for me. I also found fat quarters to organize.

At least now I don't have to go running out and buy more fabric to complete a project. Which only compounded the problem.

Have you ever used the comic book boards? I found them to been sturdy and the fabric wrapped well. I can't stand my fabric up because of the wire racks in my closet. But I can see them just as well this way.

A solution

 For years, ever since we moved into this house 11 years ago, I have tried to figure out how to hang garland and lights from the mantel. It has been a challenge using masking tape, painters tape or anything that might hold it down. I did not want to drill a hole into the wood of the mantel.

So I recently thought about using those hooks that are removable. And amazingly they worked!

This is what I used. Dollar Tree find.

Stick it on top of mantel.

And here is the garland, hanging pretty as you please.

Can't wait to put up the Christmas lights :-)

A View Most Glorious

 

This is another stand-alone novel in the American Wonders series. Regina Scott has written another compelling story full of adventure and historical facts.

Cora Baxter is an independent woman in 1893. Although her mother disapproves, she is a suffragette, trying to win the vote for women. In doing so, she is determined to climb Mount Rainer, with the hope the publicity will show the world what an average woman can accomplish. 

Nathan Hardee has turned his back on society. He is a mountain guide who at first is reluctant to take Cora up to the summit. 

I enjoyed Cora's stepfather, Stephen Winston, and her friend Mimi. Good characters. Miss Scott's descriptions make you want to seek the the views most glorious.
