ER

What does ER stand for?? Well I guess it could stand for several things.

Engine Revving...
Energy Release...
Epic Review...

but as the most common use, when we see the letters ER, we know they stand for Emergency Room


On Sunday afternoon, I was staying with my mother in law and we both took a tumble. Thankfully my mil is fine but I ended up taking a little ride in an ambulance, strapped down like a cocoon, and payed my first visit to the Emergency Room. After several hours and some xrays, it was determined that I have a compression fracture of t11.

So my friends, I will be out of commission for a little while. I am writing this under the influence of pain medication, but I don't think I will be able to sit at the computer for any length of time. Please remember me in your thoughts and prayers for a speedy and complete recovery. I love hearing from each of you but if I do not respond to your comments, you will know why.

Stash diet

ekkk...... they are reproducing! I have been in stash shock. Since we have been moving into our new(er) home, the ugly truth is coming out. Yes, I am a fabricaholic! It's become an obsession. But my goodness, where did all this come from??

When we started moving, we moved these bins with my fabric into the closet of the guest room.

I really didn't think it was too bad. I mean there are different colors, and styles of fabric that I like to work with. But this weekend, we have gone back over to the old house and it seems like the fabric bunnies have been having a party.


And in sneaks a bag or two (or three)..........

Okay, there needs to be some major stash busting. And a fabric diet is in order as well.

Sigh......... I hope YOU have a happy quilting weekend ;-)

This formula spells "fun"

We have a bonus room in our new home. This is what it looked like the first time we saw the house.

Notice the door on the left?? Well, it was a door to no where. Well it actually is access to attic space, but when you walked into the room, it looked like it should be to another room. Soooooo......... we made a few changes.

Patched up the door, and moved it to the other corner (next to the closets).

Add a ping pong table.

Plus a couple of kids

and some more kids............

and you have a formula for fun! Yep they each take a turn and run around the table to the other side and do it again :-) I love seeing young people enjoying themselves.

And if you are not up to running around a ping pong table........... well, happy quilting ;-D

A Little Knick Knack

I have seen a lot of quilt alongs on blogs lately. But today I learned about a quilt along that will actually finish a quilt, not just make a quilt top.


Go to "A Few Scraps" and read all about her Free Motion machine quilting quilt along. I am going to follow along and hopefully improve my machine quilting skills :-) Wouldn't it be nice to finish up some of those UFO's that are lurking in the closets!

Fabric snobery

I think I have become a fabric snob. You see, I used to shop at JoAnn's pretty heavily for my quilting fabrics. I mean, there was not a week that went by, if JoAnn's had a good sale or coupon, I was checking out the fabric wall.

But in the past year or so, I have not found very much fabric at JoAnn's that has jumped into my shopping cart. Is it me, or does their fabric seem to be of lesser quality? And when they started pricing their fabric at $8 and $9 a yard, I figured that if I was going to pay those prices for fabric, I might as well swing over to the local quilt shop and try to keep them in business ;-)

So this weekend, one of my favorite quilt shops was having a 30% off sale. In the quest to accommodate my guests, I thought I would work up a couple of lap quilts for the guest room. The colors are a range of greens and creams with some blue.

I have also been looking for a light creamy yellow for a blue and yellow quilt that is in the works. No light creamy yellow at the quilt store. But I did find a very good Kona Cloth match at JoAnn's that will work great with this quilt.

So maybe checking in at JoAnn's is not such a bad thing after all :-D

The sewing room in the works

Okay, now the most important room is still in the making. Several have asked where is my sewing room. So I will show you.

But of course we are still moving from the old house, so this is really what it looks like at the moment.

At least it is beginning to take shape :-) My quilting fingers are itching to get started on a project. ANY project!

A guest suite

When my BFF came for a visit, the guest room was waiting. Here is the extra bedroom when we first saw the house.

I still need to figure out what kind of pictures and accessories to use. But my boys old bunk beds have never looked so good :-)

I've never had a "spare" room before for guests to stay. We were always displacing one of our children. It was always our dream to have a room to invite friends and visitors to stay comfortably with us. We feel so blessed to be able to share this space.
