The Blog Hop

Do you ever do the Blog Hop?? I don't mean the one the quilt shops do online. I mean, do you ever go to a blog you normally read, and end up taking a little side trip?

I will be reading a blog from my google reader, and find another interesting blog on their site. Before I know it, I have hopped to many new places that I've never read before. How many blog categories can there possibly be? I'll start with the quilting blogs. Which in turn may lead me to someone who had a decorating blog. Or it could be one about food or sewing or stamping, or some other creative outlet.

Do you find new favorites? I've found so many interesting posts and sometimes I forget how I arrived there.

So share................... tell me about the blogs you read. Are there some great new blogs out there that fuel your creativity? Which ones do you follow. Do we dare tell how many we are subscribed to??

Have a hoppy quilty day!

I too love to blog hop. I'd have to check google/reader to get an accurate count of how many I follow. But I'm sure it is a couple of hundred! I use the google reader feature to show me which have released new posts and skim those via google/reader to determine which to read more in-depth. Quite fun and very inspirational. Much more fun than reading a daily newspaper!

If you want, I can also send you an export of my Google/Reader that you can easily import into yours. Just email me, if you want a copy of my list.

I do too much of this, I just checked, and my number is 597 blogs on my list! I do not get to look at all of them all the time, but it is so hard to choose to delete one, what if you miss out on some great inspiration of your next most beautiful quilt? I have blogs that I've chosen to follow by choosing it directly on their blog, and that list is 70, so I try to respond to those blogs first (yes, you fall in that category!)
This only costs time, not money, and it is truly motivational for me.
I'm hooked! Pokey

Oh yes, I definitely do this! It amazes me how many folks are online out there, all terribly talented and happy to share! It's a fun trip to take! :)

Oh I do this too - usually very late at night when I can't sew, cuz I'll wake the family, but can't sleep. I checked my Reader and I have 453 blogs listed. Thank goodness they all don't post every day! I do have a folder in my Reader of blogs I reply to when they post - the number there is 120 - and am I glad they all don't post every day!

Are you kidding? It's become a passion. I've seen so many talented quilters who are willing to share it drives me crazy. There are not enough hours in the day..housework..forget it!...quilting...well, for sure but first let me look at just one more blog...isn't it great!

I do waaaay too much blog hopping! Beginning to feel like it takes too much time away from stitching & quilting. Never enough hours in a day! But soooo many wonderful sharing peeps on-line (yourself included). Get most of my best ideas from all of you! Thanks!

some days I spend way too much time in this friendly manner and rather enjoy myself, but nothing else gets accomplished.

I do that all of the time....I think I subscribe to about 250 or more...and do try to keep up but sometimes it is so hard.

I do blog hop!! I can't help it. I started with sewing blogs. Then I looked for sewing for children blogs and found some. That led me to heirloom sewing blogs, tatting blogs, quilt blogs, knitting, etc.... Then, I got into paper cutting so I found some of those blogs too. I find new ones all the time by hopping from one to another.

We are all keeping fit aren't we, hopping around the online highway, getting inspired so that when we have time we can work on our chosen craft ! So many talented people, so little time !

Had to go to my profile and count. 71. I started weeding some out and then put them back about a month ago. When I don't have the energy for anything else...I always have it for blog reading. Heartwarming and inspiring to read what quilters are doing...especially when they show pics of their animals.

I have found myself blog hopping also. I have found a few favorites by doing this. However, I try to keep it to about 40-50 blogs on my google reader. If I have more than that I tend to spend way too much time on the computer.

Gosh... so many blogs to love! But first - thank you for my daughter's well-wishes on her engagement. Exciting stuff!!! One of my favorite blogs, one that ignates passion and creativity is http://www.sugarpiefarmhouse.com/. You will drool over her site and want to hop up and create and totally neglect your chores! Really! Another fav is http://frenchieandflea.blogspot.com/. There are so many blogs bookmarked in my favorites that I cannot even make a dent in a week! Eeek!

Oh Jocelyn, if you only knew. I am always getting side tracked with reading various blogs I've discovered while reading other blogs. But each one is unique and captures my interest before I can muster up my self-control and re-focus what I was doing. LOL

A couple of my favorites are Lurlines Place (http://lurlineg.blogspot.com/) and my friend Sharon's (http://lookingbackmovingforward.blogspot.com/). Lurline does some of the most beautiful quilts, especially her handwork and Sharon has been featuring a quilt a day for the last couple of months. Both do spectacular work.

That's just exactly what I've just been doing! How did you know? I'm subscribed to over 1000 blogs, but certainly don't have time to read many of them. On days like today, when I have an extra hour or two then I can read to my hearts content!

Girlfriend...it's my favorite thing to do...well besides, stitching, quilting, and petting bunnies! I don't watch TV because I would rather visit the "real life" stories of people all over the world. It's just too much fun!

I love to blog hop! Not only does it inspire me but I learn so much from other bloggers!

LOL I'm a hopper too! I have no idea how many I follow, but if I don't check my list every day, I find I miss a lot! :-)) How did I ever survive without all this inspiration?! ;-)

I only hop to new quilting blogs and usually only when hand piecing or applique is mentioned. I have a very short list of blogs that I read (45 of them). I decided that I needed to trim back because I wasn't getting any sewing done LOL.

I too blog hop but not as much as I would like. I will get hopping around and then forget where one is that I really liked so have to back track! I usually hop around the horse blogs but also the sewing ones and decorating. Don't know how many but I too have had to cut down a bit as I was not getting anything else done. :o) Thanks for your comments on Skipper's story, all the kind words do help!

Oh Jocelyn, ditto to all the above!! Like Michelle, I don't watch t.v. much at all now - I would also much rather be here looking at real live people doing real life craft. But I keep my favorites list short simply because I don't want to be tempted to spend more time at the computer, but I do visit the links on those blogs, which take me to more...and so on!
Friends ask why I don't get Facebook or Twitter, and I tell them I am perfectly satisfied with blogging, and don't need anything else.

Yes, I blog hop too. I enjoy visiting my favorite blogs and then seeing what blogs they like to follow. Sometimes I find hours have gone by while I hop around the blogs!! Time usually well spent!

I blog hop a lot! But I have never counted how many blogs I follow. I'm trying to reduce that tough otherwise I won't get things done!...

Snuggly Monkey said...

I do this ALL the time! I love it though, most of the time the first thing I really look at on a blog is the stuff on the sidebars to see what looks interesting. Then I just start clicking and before I know it an hour has gone by and I've found a ton of new and interesting things.
Thanks for stopping by today:)

I do blog hop but not as much as I used to. I'm trying to put myself on a blog diet! I spend too much time reading and don't get enough done, but apparently I don't read nearly as many as other folks. I keep about 100 blogs on my reader and if I add one I make myself delete one to make up for it. If I don't I'll be in big trouble because I've grown to love some of my blog owners so much I feel guilty if I don't read every one of their posts. :( blessings, marlene

I blog hop too. I don't dare count how many I have in my reader! Nowadays I am more selective about the ones I follow because I found reading posts was taking up so much time. There are just sooo many talented quilters out there!!!
