Vacations are for summer, right?

Wow can you believe that summer is almost over? I'm really sad to see it go. I know a lot of people have had unbearable heat, but our summer in the deep south has actually been very nice this year.

Last week, we ventured out for an end of summer vacation. With youngest DS back to college this week, plus he celebrated a significant birthday, we thought we would squeeze in a birthday trip.

So where did we go??

Does this place look familiar?

Now I want you to pay close attention to this building. It sits directly across from the Smithsonian Archives.
Can see the balconies at the top of the building? Maybe if you click to enlarge you can see it better. What I wanted to point out is that my hubby and his company made the ballisters that line the two levels of balconies.

Cool huh?

My son had to upgrade me to Google Chrome, and it is not as easy to maneuver around on my blog post. Or else I would have posted more pictures :-(

Enjoy the rest of your summer.

Been to DC twice in my life and would love to go again. So much to see and enjoy! And wow on those balustrades - smart hubby!

Wow good for you, girl! What a great trip, and congrats to hubby! I know this summer has flown by - we had so many days above 100 this year, I feel like I missed summer by having to stay inside.

I love DC! I actually got to sit on top of buildings near there (where my uncle works) to watch the 4th of July fireworks :) maybe your husband had a hand in that balcony, too! Anyway, glad you had a great vacation!

DC is such a fun place to visit! I've been there three times and there are still things I've missed - like those balustrades.

I like when people revisit places they already "know". That's why, if we're travelling abroad, I always reserve some days to enjoy my own country, my city...
I also like non-Summer Vacations. You get a different feeling when everyone isn't vacationing at the same time as you do.

We still have plenty of Summer to enjoy. I'm so ready for Autumn.

Thank you for sharing!

I love Washington DC!
It is the place I have visited most in the US - my husband and I have been at least ten times together and he can notch up about 6 trips on his own.
Next time, I will look across at that buildingand think "Iknow who made those Ballusters"!

Have you visited the Museum of the DAR? There are some amazing quilts on display in the room settings and in the gallery too. I have not been able to go one of their monthly programs about quilts from their storage facility - but I will one day.

Wonderful photos of DC. I really love that city and like to go as often as I can even though it is on the other side of the US from me. At least my sister lives there, so I have a place to stay when I go.
