This week Insights from SewCalGal is showcasing Red and White quilts that were made prior to 2014.
In all the years that I have been quilting, I have only made one Red and White Quilt. It was a commissioned quilt in 1997 and the only I ever sold.
The pattern originated from Eleanor Burns, but I designed the checkered border.
I can't remember how large it ended up, as the original pattern only gave directions as a wall hanging, using 6 Schoolhouses. I saved all the directions and hand drawings in hopes that I would make another one.
This is going to be an exciting year of Red and White Quilts. It will be fun to see what everyone creates.
Happy Quilting!

Your border adds a great finishing touch.
One of my favorite quilt patterns in my favorite colors. I have a stack of reds to make a quilt for a bedroom in our new home; this inspires me to get started! XOXO
