And of course, the little girl needs a bed for her baby doll. Sooooo...... on our way home last month from a trip up north, we stopped at an antique mall in Macon GA that we have frequented before. Tucked away into a corner of this very large complex was this little beauty.
The wood was in excellent condition, and this is what it says on the back.
Yep, made in the good ole U.S. of A. In the south. In Alabama to be exact. I imagine the baby doll crib is probably from the 50's or 60's. Long before they were made out of plastic.
My hubby cleaned and oiled all of the wood, and I set out to make a new cover for the crib base.
Baby doll sleeping in her new crib, covered with her very own sheet and quilt.
I love these extra large party bags. The doll bed fit perfectly. Ready for the baby shower.
And here we are at the unveiling.

What a beautiful find, the doll bed is just perfect and a great way to present your handmade baby shower gifts. Lucky little granddaughter!
Oh MY what a find - the bedding you made is perfect! Too sweet!
I saw the cutest antique doll bed last month, but, I need to wait til a baby is coming first. Boys run in hubby's family, so, my chances of having a granddaughter are slim. Enjoy the new baby, when she comes. I'm sure she, and her doll, will have lots of quilts to use.
how lucky to find the doll cot she looks so at home in it and I am sure will bring endless hours of play time when the baby gets older
Such a sweet shower gift! You've inspired me :)
