Busy week

 But not quilting!

I had an opportunity to teach a class of ladies who wanted to learn how to quilt. The only thing was....... none of them had ever sewn before! Only three had acquired sewing machines. A little bit of challenge... yes. But a good challenge. I walked them through what they would need to make a quilt, and about how to use a sewing machine. Their assignment was to go home and practice on their machines.

I did work on this panel using the Sidelights pattern.

I'm hoping to get the top finished this week. And maybe be able to quilt it soon after. I really like this pattern and will use another panel to make a summer themed one.

I love panels for a quick project. Though I always discover they are a little wonky and require a little squaring up. Thank you for sharing in my Sew and Tell party.

It's not easy teaching people who don't have a lot of sewing experience, you are brave to take that on. The Sidelights project is very pretty, love the colors. Happy stitching this week.

Good for you to help people who don't know how to use a sewing machine; but have the desire to learn to quilt! That is a two fold teaching assignment! I like how you are making the panel into a top! Well done!

Panels are great way to introduce sewing machine and quilting basics. There is nothing like teaching to enjoy the excitement of others as they grow comfortable with a new skill and to help you hone your on methods.

Now THAT is a quilting teaching challenge, LOL! Learning to use a machine is a whole set of lessons in and of itself separate from the quilting techniques. It's funny how times have changed to where so many people have had no exposure to machines or even hand sewing. Hoping they all remain excited about the creative potential and you convert them to the tribe!
