Scrap Quilts

I have amassed quite a collection of quilting books. And sometimes I wonder if I will ever make even one project from the books. I found this book at a thrift shop a couple of years ago.

I thought this book looked very familiar. So as I am leafing through the pages I recognized several of the quilts. And now I know why.

I loved making Button Box. It was such a fun quilt.

And the Bow Tie quilt

was another fun one to make

Cracker on the other hand
was never finished.

While making the blocks for this quilt, I had so many blocks left over that I made another quilt and gave it away. So the borders never were finished. Now I don't even know where the borders ended up :-( Have you ever had that happen?

Beautiful quilts Jocelyn! I love scrappy quilts also. I had never heard of the Cracker quilt until this week. A lady on FB shared a picture and a link for one. It was very beautiful. I think it looks a lot like a signature quilt.

I've got quite a library of quilt books too. Most, if not all, will go to a thrift store someday. They are fun to look through and find something new to make! I really like your Cracker quilt and I think it looks great without the border! Just add a binding and it's done!

I have that book, too - it's really a good one. I've hundreds of books now. I've now got instructions of 'what to do' when I go toes up, as I've 4 machines, a Billy cabinet full of pre cuts (from scraps), and other cabinets FULL of yardage plus wide backings hanging on hangers in the closet (just the heavy wire hangers - the plastic ones just break). Another tall book cabinet with the authors I collect (as I read each series at least once per year). It's a very full quilt room/library. All the books (after friends & family to through everything) will be donated to the local library as their collection of books for quilter is pitifully almost nonexistent. The fabrics will go to the free tables at my quilt guild (after my family & friends go through it all first). The Featherweight must stay with the family - her name is "Rose" and I suspect there will be several who will want her. : )
