Many of you who follow my blog know that I live in the sunny state of Florida. In the last 6 weeks, we have had rainy, freezing cold weather conditions that are not the usual fare for this time of year. And although we are not experiencing the blizzard conditions of the north, many of the Florida homes (especially the older ones) are not built for cold weather conditions. It was normal to build homes with lots of windows for cross ventilation before the days of AC. These very efficient cross ventilated non air conditioned homes usually freeze in the winter time. Which is not usually a problem when you have two or three days of cold and then return to the balmy temps of 70 and 80 degrees.
Yesterday was a miserable day by Florida standards. It was cold! It was rainy! It was gloomy! BUT for us quilters there was a little respite for the cold weary on the Central Florida western shores.
Yes a quilt show!
We made our way north to visit the West Pasco Quilt show, which is put on every two years. It has always been an outstanding quilt show with about 300 quilts on display. There are usually lots of vendors and lovely quilts to take in. My quilting buds and I left there a bit disappointed in this show, but it was a good field trip for us cold weary Floridians.
Here are a few of the quilts that were on display.
I think if you click on the picture, it will enlarge the quilt.
I'm sorry this next one is blurry, as it was such a cute tiny Sunbonnet Sue quilt. I would have gotten a better picture, but all of the men were standing in the way.......... uhumm......
There is a terrible drawback to attending a quilt show when the weather is bad. You see, the husbands don't have anything to do. They can't golf, or play shuffleboard, or whatever. So they accompany their wives to quilt shows. And peeps, you know how it is at a quilt show. It fills up quickly with quilters, but if you add to the mix their husbands (who by the way stand in the middle of the aisles and chat), well it doubles the amount of people in the exhibit hall.
I LOVED this jacket -
I don't want to make this too picture heavy, so I will post more pictures next time.
Wishing every one of you a very Happy Valentine's Day :-)
Don't forget to give your loved one a hug.

I love quilt shows, and the local one should be coming up next month. Thanks for the reminder!
What a fun way to spend a day! I love the star quilt. :-) Thanks for the photo's!
Thanks for the eye candy, I also love the star quilt. Gorgeous!! I hope your weather warms up soon.
Ugh - I can't imagine weathering cold weather in a home not designed for it! This has been the strangest winter - there's more snow in Dallas than Detroit! Looks like a lovely quilt show, I love that jacket too - stay warm and dry, ok?
I can't think of a better way to spend a rainy day (or a sunny day, for that matter)!
I went to a show recently and we were having tons of rain - yes 'they' were there, too. Standing the middle of the aisles - chastising their wives for stopping to look, complaining about the crowds, etc. Ugh! LOL
Let's hope this winter starts to become a little kinder to many of us soon.
Oh how fun! That second quilt you pictured is beautiful. Well, they all are! Hope you warm back up soon. Happy Valentine's Day! :)
Ooh, you're so right, that jacket is scruptious.
Thanks so much for the quilt show pictures...such beautiful quilts. I can't believe the weather this country is having...especially in Florida. My husband read some where that 49 of the 50 states have measureable snow this winter. All but Hawaii...crazy.
Glad your package arrived safe and sound. I hope you have a wonderful Valentine's Day.

Nothing like a good quilt show to chase away the cold and icky blues! I hope it's nice at the end of the month. I'm suppose to go to the Mid Atlantic Quilt Festival in VA.
I just can't relax at these things with dear Hubs along. He's good but I know he'd rather be just about anywhere but at a quilt shop! It's the one time I am glad for his Blackberry, it keeps him busy!
Your table topper is on it's way. It went in the mail this morning. With the holiday on Monday it will probably be the last of the week before it gets to you. Thanks again for taking part in my contest and for coming by and commenting! Hope you like the colors, my DIL helped pick them out.
I hope it warms up for you soon....even your blood is not thick enough for the cold so you are colder...
Love the quilts, thanks for showing them!!
So sorry for your yucky weather. I think most of the country has had yucky weather this winter! Glad you could go to a quilt show!
Thanks for sharing the pictures from the show, and hope you keep warm.
Hope it warms up for you soon...us too...;-)
Had snow again to day. Was a pretty one but OVER IT!
Pretty quilts. I am looking forward to the Mid Atlantic Quilt Show later this month in Newport News!
Hugs,
Lola
Absolutely loved the photos! Such beautiful quilts! Simply beautiful! I especially liked that gorgeous jacket! Thanks for sharing your day with us! Happy Valentine's Day!
Have you ever been to a woodwork show (to accompany the husband who has been supportive enough to accompany you to a quilt show)? Not only do the men stand in the aisles and chat - they elbow their way past like there's no tomorrow! Certainly makes us quilter's (even frenzied ones at a quilt show) seem very calm and civilized! :)
Regards, Sue
I'm with you...we sure haven't had any Chamber of Commerce days here in Orlando...LOL! Cold and wet...yuck! Good sewing weather. Glad you had a quilt show to go to.
Tsk Tsk, those wives should have trained their hubbies in proper quilt show behaviour LOL. I look forward to more pictures.

Looks like a most inspiring quilt show! I can't imagine taking my husband to a quilt show:)
Thanks for sharing, the quilts are gorgeous.
I hope that weather improves for you very soon, yikes! Nothing worse than a man who can't go outside and play.
Happy Valentine's Day :)
Thanks for the quilt show. Hope the weather gets back to normal soon.
Oh what cute little couple on Valentine's card. Funny reading about the men at quilt show. I trained my man to look for specific things in quilts on display. So every time we visited quilt shows I will ask him to look for particular pictures or cars or hearts in quilts and off he goes and even enjoys himself most of the time.
Hugs Nat
Thanks for the quilt show. That's the best way to deal with cold weather! It's been in the 20's here. I'm trying to be brave. :)
Karen
Just finished seeing all the show and tell. Great quilts. With some quilts the quilting sure does make a difference in how it looks. Thanks for sharing.
