Strings Block

Most of the string quilts that I have seen are sewn on the diagonal. Last week I thought I would try sewing scrap strings into a block pattern. Over the weekend I finished quilting it. This is how it turned out.

It was fun using scraps of fabric for this wall hanging. Do you sometimes remember the other projects you've made with the fabrics?

I have been making my way through the Bloggers Quilt Festival. It's a slow process, but WOW what incredible quilts! Be sure to take a tour of all the wonderful quilting blogs.

And an update on my SMS giveaway. The winner of my Machine Quilting prize was Nicole C. from Southport NC. Nicole does not have a blog, and is a fairly new quilter. She has two little ones with number three on the way :-) So congratulations to Nicole. Your package is already in the mail.

I am joining Tea Rose Home Link party. Stop by and join the party!

Happy Quilting!

Your blocks look great. I love string blocks, but you probably knew that. :) I do remember where I bought/acquired most every piece of my fabric and previous projects using them. I love that!

Love your string quilt. I have seen many of them and I am going to start one this week. They are such a nice way to use stash and left overs up. I like the plain blocks in-between.

I love how you did your string quilt, I think it's much more interesting than the diagonal ones. It is fun to remember fabrics used in old projects, I like the ones that I can't figure out where the heck I got it LOL.

Love it with the white borders Jocelyn. It's hard for me to go scrappy, I want to place the colors. LOL

I remember my vacations by the fabric I purchased! Way more fun to me than souvenirs I will never use! I love your "string blocks" quilt and the quilting is lovely.

Wow. I love your quilt! Congrats to Nicole! Thanks for visiting me. I am actually out of town and my email will not let me send. I can receive but not send. Isn't that weird? I hope you have a great weekend.

Always lovely to see a variation on a common theme! Since I'm still working on my first string quilt ever, I'm on the diagonal... I need to get back to that project, coming to think of it ;)

Cheers,
Christine
