Strings, strings, strings.........

Strings............

all kinds of strings.............

oops........... fabric strings??

When we started packing up to move to our new house, I had a plan to try and sort some of my fabric scraps by color. You know about scraps right?? On Bonnie Hunter's website she states -
"I 'm sure we've all heard "Oh, it's just scraps." Have you ever stopped to realize that your scraps cost you just as much per yard as the original fabric purchased that they came from? Your scraps could be worth $9.00 or more a yard. Makes you think twice about tossing them out, doesn't it? Or relegating them to the lowly position of "just a scrap"?"

I tried making a string quilt, and this was the product of my effort.

I finished it on the day we signed to buy our new house.

And although I enjoyed making this little string quilt, I am thinking that I am not really going to make another one when I have other projects that are calling me.

So can I give them to you?? Would you like to have some of my scraps and strings?? I don't know what will count as a string, but I would be happy to send a flat rate envelope with the strings that I had accumulated.

Let me know. I'm happy to share.

And let's have some happy quilting!

Your string quilt is fabulous but I completely understand exactly how you feel. I'm not sure what I would do with your strings but they would be fun to receive. :-)

Great job on your string quilt. My first quilt was a string quilt, and I am still making them. They were my mother's favorites too! I would love to use some of your strings in my quilts!

Oh, my goodness! I would LOVE to have some of them. I just recently decided to try a string quilt, and have been collecting strings so that I can start. This would give me a boost (and some different fabrics)!

Hi Jocelyn
No. I don't want any more strings or scraps:) I do take the trimmings from projects and make dog beds from them. I make a pillowcase and stuff it. I don't feel so guilty about throwing fabric away that way. Also, there is a Yahoo group called Heartstrings. They make string quilts for charity. I have mailed strings to them in the past. Our guild is currently making string blocks for Quilts of Valor. It's fun to make the blocks, but not worry about making the actual quilt. Take care!

I'd love some of your strings. It's fun to get fabrics from people to see what they're using. I love strips and scraps and would be happy to pay postage and envelope fee of course.

That is a very interesting layout. It really gives the string block a different look.

Congratulations on the new house. One doesn't here that news too often these days. I will pass on the scraps. Thanks. I have enough to make several queen size quilts And I also manage the scraps for comfort quilts we make at church. I would be happy to send some on too - for postage.

I really like your quilt. However, I have plenty of my own 'strings' to play with. I hope you find a home for yours.

I would like some strings if you have any left. I'm going to start a spider web quilt using strings and selvages once the present baby quilt is quilted...by next week hopefully. Congrats on your new home. I envy you...I went from my father's house to my husband's house and never had the excitement of 'house hunting' and choosing my own location or home. I know there is stress related to it, but still, to CHOOSE one's home...sigh....

No, I do not need the scraps or strings. I am not into sewing. I love quilts though, so I will take it.
