Madame Samm of Sew I Quilt and Jodi from Pleasant Home have been busy gals. They have been making coasters, or more correctly termed Mug Rugs! What inspiration and creativity!
I really struggle with the creative part. I can take a pattern and go from there, but to pull something out of my head and make it happen with my fingers, well, that just doesn't happen. But I gave it the ole' college try and this is my Mug Rug.
With several left over blocks from my string quilt, adding a cup of enormous proportions (we like coffee here), I put this little Mug Rug together. My daughter had a mug with appropriate colors, and the cookies were added for staging :-) How fun is that?
I hope you have a great weekend! And Happy Quilting!

Oh I love this mug rug! I haven't saw these. I thought you were gonna make that little potato bag that I have been seeing everywhere. That is why I said potatoes. I should have said coffee!!lol
Great mug rug! I'm pretty much the same way you are - give me a pattern and I'll produce but design - not so much. I did create a mug rug and had fun doing it. Maybe this will start my designing side of my brain to work.
I think you did a beautifully creative job on this - you should pull ideas out of your head more often! It's darling!
What a wonderful idea , I am always setting my coffee cup on some type of paper padding, I also have a small quilted sample square I made a couple years ago for laying my glasses and hearing aid on at night while sleeping . It needs to be finished though, a great gift idea!
So very clever!!!! Love the colors.
Hello Jocelyn., How tickled I am to see one...and to think I and jodi may have inspired you...well, I LOVE THIS..and you must have sent me some vibes as on the weekend, I made 2 of them with fancy cups on them...NOW you have inspired me... Sew will you be making more?
I thought I sent a note...guess I didn't ....well I am certainly inspired...I even made a couple this weekend ..we must have been on the same wave length...the cup idea is what I mean....you know I made mug rugs lol..
Scuse me, I thought you said you couldn't come up with your own designs? This is great.
That is beautiful!! I think yours is one of my favorites, and I have seen alot of them! I may have to break down and work on one during Friday Night Sew In.
You did great coming up with your own design! That is something I really struggle with and honestly I don't try to much these days. I should though!
Well, I would say that you DO have a creative side that you just haven't tapped. The Mug rug is adorable!!
