It's a virus :-(

For the first time in 15+ years of having a computer with internet, my computer has been attacked with a virus. It must be a pretty nasty one too, because my son, the computer geek, has been working on it for two days. I asked him if he could fix it, and could it be salvaged? He told me he was not sure if it would be salvaged, BUT he could fix it. I asked him if I would lose a lot, and he said...... maybe.............

Sigh.

So I probably will be on a "not" planned cyber vacation.

Take care and enjoy your quilting. I hope to be back soon.

Sorry to hear about that. It only took one nasty virus, sent accidentally by my sister-in-law, to make me change to a Mac--'ll never go back to a PC. Fingers crossed everything will be okay. Do you back your work up? An external drive is a must with all the problems that cyberworld has. XOXO

Ick ick! I do not understand why people feel the need to create these viruses! (When I was at STaples this past weekend, they had coupons for free computer "tune ups" at the counter. If your computer geek has trouble, it might be worth trying, but I've no experience to recommend it) Hope your computer is feeling well soon!

Good luck with your virus. I've had it happen to me twice now and both times was lucky enough to save most of my info. It's certainly no fun though and if you're like me, you'll worry until you know it's fixed/recovered. I hope you can enjoy your "not planned" vacation. :)

Sorry to hear this has happened to you, just the same thing happened to me early this year and I thought I'd lost everything but a wonderful computer geek managed to save everything and now I have an external hard drive attatched to my lap top and I update regularly with my info and photo's just in case.
Hope your problem can be fixed soon and not much lost :( Barb.

I recently had to pay a few hundred dollars to get a virus off my computer. I have all the virus software too. The tech asked me if I updated my adobe and java. I do sometimes. He said the updates are security updates and since I don't do that all the time, that is probably how the virus got on my computer. You can be sure I update everything now!
