A Remembrance

Do you remember where you were 50 years ago??  Many of you were not even born, but as a schoolgirl I remember hearing the news about the assassination or President John F. Kennedy.  It feels like it was the end of an age.  The end of innocence.

My Mom had these magazines, and I have kept them all these years.  As a remembrance.

How wonderful that you kept those, a great teaching tool for younger Americans. I have magazines from 911 I saved for my daughter who was a few months old when that happened. I watched a documentary the other night that showed tv news reports as they happened that day, that was really interesting. Thanks so much for sharing this at We Call It Olde, have a nice weekend and come again. -Dawn @ We Call It Junkin.com

Hello,

That is wonderful that you still have the magazines. I was born about a week before this event took place. My Mum still remembers the day the Sisters from the Maternity Hospital told her and the other new Mum's the horrible news.

Have a lovely weekend.
Bev.

I was ten. I remember it better than anything else from my youth. It was so devastating. I wish we still had the magazines from then, actually they may still be here, I haven't gone through my dad's "stash" yet.

Yes...I do remember. I had just passed through Dallas, Texas the day before the tragedy. I was traveling from Kansas to visit my family in Texas.

I was only 10.5 months old, but, I was at the Sears store, on Ross Ave, only blocks away from where JFK was shot. My mother had tried to go watch the motorcade, but, with 2 small children, and huge crowds, she'd given up, and stopped at the Sears, where my father worked to watch it all on the TVs in the TV dept.
