I'm an Olfa girl

Rotary cutters. There are so many varieties available now. There are big ones, and small ones. There are cutters with straight blades and some with wavy blades. They come in an ergonomic design, or just plain ;-) The list could probably boggle the mind.

So, what is your weapon of choice?

Small?

Medium?

or large?

I had problems with this large blade rotary. The lock would not stay in the locked position when I used it. I wrote to the company and they sent this replacement, no questions asked -

But my favorite baby is this one

She was my first rotary and I still love to use her when I am cutting fabric. I've got one with pretty floral decorations, but I didn't get a picture. I also find that my blades don't dull as easily when I use her sister mat.

I have several mats, and I find the Olfa mat seems softer then some other brands. I don't know if that is what makes the difference in dulling a blade, but nevertheless I'm an Olfa girl :-)

So choose your weapon................. and start cutting :-)

Happy Quilting!

The Olfa mat I purchased had a strong odor and it hasn't gone away (it's been almost a year). Have you experienced that? And if you did and got rid of it, how did you do it? Thanks!

I've never had any trouble with my Fiskars cutter and find that it fits my hand better. But I do use the Olfa blades and the Olfa mat. Just prefer the Fiskars cutter. 😉

The only cutter I have ever had is a Kaicut 5045. I bought it when they first came out in the early 1980s, and wouldn't trade it for anything. It does not have a lock on it, but my children, then my grandchildren (and my husband) know that only I touch that weapon!!! I do use Olfa blades and mat. Sally

I prefer my Olfa cutter too. However, I have a Fiskars that I reserve for cutting paper and other non-fabric cutting needs.

I'm a Fiskars girl, lol - it just fits my hand better. But I buy the blades at Harbor Freight, they sell them as carpet cutting blades, and they're the exact same thing for WAY less!

I have a few cutters medium size but have like you returned to my original the same as yours. Also have one small and one big one but never used either! my mat is well worn and have bought a replacement but it is much harder than the olfa not so nice. Also have a rotating square one which is very useful for trimming HSTs etc

I have to agree with you! I keep going back to mine too. It is just the most comfy for me and easy to handle. What would we do without our cutters?
