In love with old sheets

I have become enamored with Vintage sheets. I had a few sheets, but after seeing some quilts made up in blog land, I've been on the hunt for them.

This quilt sent me over the edge and gave me a goal.

Anyone Can Quilt

So take a look. You may fall in love. As for me, I found these two pillowcases over the weekend.I've collected quite a few but Vintage sheets are getting harder to find in our area. Maybe everyone else is falling in love with these soft lovely oldies.

Have a happy quilting day!

So do you have a pattern planned? I must admit those old sheet do have more of an appeal than the ones now.

I used to order sheets like these from the Sears catalog nearly 50 years ago. I'd use a solid bottom and a print top, sandwich them with two layers of batting, and then tie them to make "comforters". I folded the edge of the top sheet under the batting, and the solid bottom edge was folded over the top sheet, then machine stitched along the edge for the "binding". Those were very popular gifts, and some of them are still in use.

Old sheets make my favorite quilts. So soft and cuddly! Have made several of them as gifts and am working on one now just for me! Have collected many sheets and pillow cases and I spy a few in your quilt that I also have in my collection.

I need to look for some! Years ago I bought some used sheets (solid colors) from Goodwill-type stores to use in making baby quilts. But printed vintage ones for full-sized quilts is a great idea!

I can't find them anymore in my area - I think folks are snapping them up! I used to be able to go to estate sales and find them by the half-ton, lol. I have quite a collection, and a quilt like this is on my list to make too! But I think I might put white sashing between my squares, just a thin sashing. I usually back my bed quilts with vintage sheets - they are so soft and cuddly!
