Trouble in blog land

Over the last two weeks I have not had any comments on either of my blogs. I am assuming this is due to the changes that took place on May 25th. I apologize if I have not responded to your comments, as I always try to respond if  you leave a comment. And it seems that I have missed countless comments that have been sitting in my moderator file. They appear to be from no-reply bloggers, although I have received from them before. It is sad and discouraging, because I am just a little blog, not anyone with a business or any type of online affiliates. I posted this explanation of disclosures and policies on my Just A Little Southern Hospitality blog, and have it posted on this header. So in case anyone wants to know, and didn't read it before, I am re-posting so that I am making the plain thing - plain.

I have absolutely no idea if I need to post this, but I'd rather comply than find out later it was needed!

What do I do with your information when you comment on a post or subscribe to updates or enter a giveaway? Am I holding your email address hostage? (No!) What is GDPR??
The General Data Protection Regulation goes into effect on May 25, 2018, and I want to make sure we’re all clear on my privacy policy and what I do with the information you give me.

  1. We never sell your personal information to third parties, and all data collected is only used to notify you about giveaway winnings or to send you blog updates as you have requested by checking the comment follow box or filling out the email contact form. You can, at any time, remove your consent.
  2. I am not holding on to your email address With every post update email you receive, there is an ‘unsubscribe’ option at the bottom. If you don’t unsubscribe before May 25, 2018, I am going to assume you want to continue receiving post updates from my blog. But, you are free to unsubscribe at any time.
  3. When you fill out the subscription form or comment on a post or enter a giveaway, I get the information you filled out. I only use this information for the purpose you intended and I never sell or give your information to a third party.

I often receive free books from publishers, authors, and publicity groups in exchange for my honest review. I am not required to write a positive review, and any opinions I express are always my own. Otherwise, the book was part of my personal collection or borrowed from a library. I am never paid for a review that appears on this blog.    ~updated 5/24/2018~

Yes it has been annoying for many of us. We are still reading though

I have no idea if we have to do that or not, I know WordPress has a disclosure notice that they put on the bottom of your blog, but Blogger does not. Here's hoping they get this all fixed soon!

I get comments on my blog. What I don't get are email notifications of a comment being left. So every morning I go to my blogger dashboard and check my comments and see if any new ones have been added. If so, I go to that comment and reply via the person's profile and the email they list. PS only works if they have a blogger account.

I think folks are just not commenting much. I did read on the Blogger/Google News Site that they did change things on OpenID etc which is why we no longer get comments through email. Did not understand it all but just the way it will stay.
May check into having someone help me move my blog to Word Press.
Blogger?Google says notice is suppose to auto pop up when folks from the UK an Europe visit our blog. It is their new regulation. We can not see it but they can. Always change some good others not so much!
Hugs,
Lola

I checked my blog, and, the message came thru for foreign readers. If just showing the message would make our comments come back, believe me, we'd all have done it before now. Google is being a royal pain and not fixing the issue. I complained to them, but, can't even complain anymore (their own blog won't let me leave any more comments). I'm going back to my latest blog post once a day, and then I'll copy and paste and reply to each comment that I can (so far no no-reply comments, thank goodness).

I think Blogger decided to make changes that had nothing to do with what you are doing with anyone's information. there seems to be dozens of you in this position of not being able to read comments or respond to them. Personally, I think this was an inappropriate action to implement a major change in how Blogger functions without notifying all the users. I read both your blogs. take care and Happy Sewing from Iowa

This new ruling has us all in a tither. I'm not sure why comments are being published for you, but thought I'd give it a go as a test. I hope it gets cleared up for you soon! duchick at gmail dot com

got your comment. Using a test comment on each post and marking the box to email follow up comments is the only solution I have heard about. I don't know how to switch to wordpress but have heard it does not have this problem.
