Hope's Highest Mountain

book cover of Hope\'s Highest Mountain

Misty Beller is an amazing story teller. As evidenced by her latest novel, Hopes' Highest Mountain.

Dr. Micah Bradley has hermited himself after losing his wife and daughter to small pox. Coming across a wreckage, he is able to save the love survivor.

Ingrid Chastain's mission is to deliver life saving small pox vaccine to the remote mountain of Settlers Point. With the unfortunate accident that has killed her father, Ingrid is determined to complete his mission. However, with  a broken leg it is near impossible for her to travel. She convinces Micah to help her to complete her journey.

This story is one of determination, encouragement, self forgiveness, and selflessness. Traveling the Montana territory in the 1800's would have been daunting. Yet Ms Beller brought the adventure alive with her descriptive narrative. She wove a story of lost faith, and how God encouraged Micah through this trial. The characters were well rounded, and even though there were many real dangers,  they were able to resolve them with courage and hope.

During the early 20th century, small pox is estimated to have been responsible for the death of 300 - 500 million people. Many of which were children. The development of the small pox vaccine in the early 1800's proved early inoculation warded off the disease. Ingrid's determination to get the vaccine to the remote mountain village, even if she had to walk there, was paramount to this story. Great historical fiction.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher. All thoughts and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
