Making an impact

Recently a question was asked if you ever regret giving a quilt. There were a lot of responses that said yes. Mostly from people who find that the quilt they made for someone, totally disregarded it. Sometimes when we give a quilt that we love to someone, they don't always see the time and effort you put into it.

But have you ever wondered how your quilts make an impact on someone's life?

I recently met a man in the military who told me that when he was being evacuated from Afghanistan, he was given a quilt. I asked him if it was a patriotic quilt. He said yes. And he still had it. He said it reminded him of the time he was in Afghanistan. He appreciated the words someone spoke to him when he received it. It seemed to be very special to him.

So just remember when you are making quilts, when we give of +ourselves, whether it is for Quilts of Valor, a nursing home or hospital, someone will appreciate it.

I have given a lot of quilts over the years and I can truthfully say most have been appreciated. I make quilts for the USO Lounge at our local airport, and I am told the service members really appreciate the touch of comfort and home as they travel from post to post or even home. I even had an email from one of the servicemen who had used a quilt while there.
