No Deposit, No Return (and giveaway countdown)

Do you remember that crazy movie?? It's a movie with Don Knotts involving some of his antics. Or do you just think about the days when a bottle of soda (pop) required a nickel deposit, and when you returned the bottle, you got your nickel back?

Well, I really enjoy reading everyone's comments on my blog. But sometimes there is a little problem. You see, when you leave a comment on my blog, I would really love to be able to send a reply back. Many of you write a comment but when I try to reply, I can't send you a message back because there is no where to send it. Do you know if you are leaving a no-reply message?

I would love to be able to chat with you. So here is how to do it if you don't know how:

•first, go to your blogger dashboard
•near your picture or logo on the left, click "Edit Profile"
•go to the first section labeled "Privacy"
•in this section, the third line down should say "Show Email Address"
•make sure the IS a Check Mark in the "Show Email Address"
•if you don't have an email address listed, you can fill it in in the "Identity" section
•The MOST IMPORTANT part when you finish, is to go to the bottom of the page and click "Save Profile" on the bottom left side. If you do not click save it won't work.

(directions copied from "I Have a Notion", who copied it from "Sew Many Ways" blogs. Thanks girls!)

I KNOW YOU CAN DO THIS!!

Now I have a message for Sharon (no-reply) who asked about the quilt hanging in my friends sewing room. She wanted to know which pattern it was. Sharon, the pattern is called "The Blooming Nine Patch" and it is in the book "Traditions with a Twist" by Blanche Young.

And please remember that you can still sign up for my giveaway. I will be closing the comments tonight. Go back to this post to leave a comment. I'd really love to hear from you.

Have a great weekend. And happy quilting!

Ah - I need to post that on my blog too. I've found that most folks who are no-reply have no idea that they are!
I don't think I ever saw that movie...

I too find it difficult to respond to the no-reply people. I suppose many think that they will get lots of spam, but I get maybe one a month. It's great that you have given the instructions to fix this :o)

If I find they are "no reply", I then try to click on their name that is usually highlighted in their comment.....and sometimes I can then get to their blog and I then TELL them I am needing to reply there since they have a "no reply" address connected to their comments. You are right...some of them had no idea they were set to "no reply". It's good that you put the directions here. I just went back to doublecheck if I had commented on your giveaway as I couldn't recall and I DID...YAY!!! Now I'll just have to cross my fingers that I win. LOL

Thanks so much for posting this on your blog...the word really needs to get out. I feel badly when I can't answer a question. When I posted the directions, almost every person who checked didn't realize they were "no reply" or even what it meant. One woman just thought no one liked her or her blog, that's why they weren't writing her back. Poor thing...I felt so much better after she changed her status and I emailed her right back!!
Thanks again,
Karen

I love that movie but I love most old movies and don knotts and jerry lewis are the best. We still have a glass bottle opener on our cabinets . It has been there all my life. I saw one on the movie Quess Who's Coming To Dinner the Spencer Tracy used one in there kitchen .It was in the same place as ours. I thing it was that movie. So I remember bottle caps.
