I don't know why I was amazed to see several Selvage spottings in Paducah. Of all places, Paducah should be the hot spot for any and every kind of quilting.
And this gracious lady allowed me to photograph her amazing bag.
I think one of her companions said the pattern had been in an issue of McCall's Quilting (?) magazine last year.
Happy Quilting!

I've received a couple of comments from readers who toss out their selvages! I'd be happy to take them off your hands. Just stick them in an envelope and send them on :-) We just would not want to fill the landfills with $10 a yard selvages. Okay, go on now and have a Happy Quilting day!

I love selvage pieces! Cute bags!!!!!!!!
xxoo
I admit that I toss selvages in the trash. I should probably start keeping them with all these cute ideas.
I totally toss all my selvages out. I feel so bad now guess I need to start saving them.
I, too, toss my selvages out ... but as cute as those bags are, I'm thinking I'll put a stop to that! ;-) Thanks for sharing!
I guess I'd better join the ranks and start saving them! I'll send them on to you when I have a bunch!! LOL

I remember seeing that pattern in the magazine. It is funny how trends change. Why didn't we keep our selvages before? lol
Great to have you following with us on our trip.
I am starting to braid my selvages...along with other narrow strips....will decide what to do with them later....
Well, I wish I could just stuff them into an envelope and let you have them. However it might take a small box to send them to you. I keep them, but I don't know if I want to use them. I guess I will decide sooner or later and then either use them of find someone who wants them. I cut the 1 1/2 inches.
Darling bag! Have you checked out the Selvedge Blog?
It was so great to meet you in Paducah!
Whoops! I see you have the Selvedge Blog on your blog roll!
selvedge projects are always so interesting to look at. so much eye candy!
Love the selvedge projects - that lady's bag is awesome! Definitely keep them!
My friend made almost the same bag in photo #3 several years ago. No pattern, she used string quilt blocks. She added a double row of pockets on the inside and it's fabulous. Love this bag! Looks like you had a fun trip to Paducah.
If I had any salvages I would be happy to send them to you but I don't save them. There must be many people who cut on the grain to get salvages long enough to even think of saving them.
Crispy
I will gladly start collecting my selveges for you. I use them to blot up oil or to test tension, but there's always a scrap for that someplace else. When I have a few, I'll try to remember to contact you. Lane
What amazing bags!!! Fun post!
Wow, I really like the way selvages are being used these days. That bag is so cool.
