The Pink Scarf Project

A little bit of a knitting update.  A few weeks ago I learned about the Pink Scarf Project hosted by Vicki at 2 Bags Full.

This really tugged at my heart, and I wanted to participate.  Even though I am a beginner knitter, I wanted to send something I had made.

So I started out doing this -

But I decided that I did not like how the colors were coming out.  Not really pink enough.

Deciding that I would just make an easy pink scarf, I started making this one.

Very very simple, but it was something I could do.  I started with the soft white and then just knitted, knitted, knitted.  Because I do not yet know how to make pretty cables or other fancy stitches, I am going to try to add some pom-poms on the ends.

This was a year long project, but will come to an end in October.

I hope and pray this will bring a little bit of joy to someone who is undergoing Breast Cancer treatment and recovery.  You see, my heart was drawn to this project because my BFF lost her battle 9 years ago.

Oh my- your story has tugged at my heart too--- you are so generous to participate in this project- your scarf is so lovely. I can't imagine how much I will be loved and appreciated once it goes to a new home. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this beautiful gift-- I can hardly wait to add it to the amazing collection of gifts.
I'll be sure to photograph it beautifully--

First time I have heard of this project. I have no knitting skills. I do have breast cancer and just had a mastetomy. Had a partial mastectomy first but ended up going back fo rthe full mastectomy as I had 5 positive borders. I am 2 weeks post op today. And have started reconstruction with a tissue expander. I have been doign a Breast Cancer Awareness mug rug project for all the employes of The Breast Care Center where I was diagnosed at. My way of giving back to those that give so much to help us ladies batteling and preventing breast cancer and other breast disease. Kudos to you and all the others that help in any way with those of us suffering Breast cancer. If you look back on my bog you can see some earlier post in May and June I think that were about my project.http://tammytopsewndesign.blogspot.com/

My mother just had her 6 year check up. Her sister has had it twice, and her niece (other sisters daughter) has also had it. All three are fine, thank goodness.

Very pretty and what a great thing to do! How did I not know about this project? I just happen to have a skein of pink homespun yarn...perfect for a quick scarf! I shouldn't have any trouble getting one done by the deadline.

Your scarf is lovely and it will surely warm some woman's heart as it was made with love and care. Thank you for sharing this, I have some pink and white and will get busy with a scarf tonight and hopefully get one finished by deadline.

Tammy, prayers coming your way for complete healing. I will visit your blog to see your lovely mug rugs. What a thoughtful gift for those who helped care for you. Sometime they get forgotten.

Rebecca Tellez thank you so much for you your kind and careing words. I am so happy to have prayers going up for me. I sure can use some.... It has been hard on me. I amn ot used to being the patient. I used to be a nurse . And I now take care of a special needs child who is home with me each day and I have a wonderful husband and daughter. So it is hard to have to give the reins to soemone else to take over and do stuff I can no longer able to do. I thank God everyday for my family. We moved here 2 and a half years ago. And most of my friends are online ladies I have met over the years. But I do have one good freind where who has been a blessing to me. Takeing my daughtr to and from school each day for me and cooking meals t bring over when I was unable to do anything but be in bed. One can never have too many freinds nor too many prayers . I will do a update on my blog soon about my health. I try to think positive and keep my mind off of it but one can only do that for so long.. Thank you again.. And may you be blessed always for your careing and compassion to a stranger.
