Talking about how we display our quilts, while visiting my BFF a couple of years ago, I was a guest in her basement apartment. She has it decorated so beautifully. One thing that stood out to me was how she uses her quilts around her home.
This old Singer stand at one time had a top on it.
My BFF took the top off and had her Dad make rods to fit across the frame. She now uses it as a quilt rack.
A simple idea made into a lovely display area :-)

Absolutely the best idea in repurposing :O) Next time I see an old treadle for sale I won't pay so much attention to the condition of the machine and top but to the base!
How cool is that? I agree with Shelley - I'll be looking for one!
Great idea and a beautiful quilt, too!
What a wonderful way to use the old Singer stand! Pretty quilt .
Great idea. What a beautiful quilt to have on display. The Singer stand gives it a vintage touch.
You are one SMART cookie, I would say! Beautiful stand...it would be hard to find that nice of iron work around. =)

That is a wonderful idea!! I have to show this to my girlfriend - she has two treadle tables, one with a machine, one without. This is lovely!
OH thank you so much. I have one of these that I have such a hard time not getting rid of. It has a piece of glass on top for a table that I hate. But I love the rod idea for my Quilts. Thank you Thank you. Now my husband might not be so grateful. LOL
Now why didn't I think of that when I had a base just sitting around? It's beautiful!
I have a couple of those. They include the pedal platform, drawers, sewing surface, leather belts,--and sewing machines! I rarely sew on anything electric any more. And my free motion quilting, piecing, and applique are better than ever.
When I see irons like the ones you show, I can't help wondering about the missing pieces and the machines and wondering why someone didn't just oil them and use them.
Interesting quilt rack, but I'd love to know "the rest of the story."
Now that is an ingenious idea. And how appropriate for an old sewing machine stand to hold a quilt! I have recenty seen a lot of those stands at flea markets and antique shops for really great prices (i.e., cheap! lol)...maybe I should think about getting one!
XOXO,

That is very clever and looks top notch, too! :)
I love that idea and it is so pretty. Now I will be on the lookout for one too.
Oh Yes! the perfect idea.. and very creative, I love it. I wonder if I can find an vintage singer :)
Have a sweet day, Elizabeth
My husband took one and made a wood table top for me. We find these old stands at the recycle center. In case anyone is looking for one.
What a great idea. I have one waiting to be used up in my attic.
