Do you enjoy traveling?? What is your favorite way to get from point A to point B?
My hubby had a conference in a far away state, and asked me if I'd like to come along. We decided that we would drive. And boy, what a drive it was. We traveled from Florida all the way to Kansas!! From the time we left home, til we came back we went through 9 states! Wow, I've never seen such a diverse array of country side while traveling from a tropical state to the prairie. It was my first visit to the Midwest, and I have to say it was beautiful.
The sky was so breathtaking.
I could not keep from taking pictures of the clouds and firey sunsets.
The beautiful farms
and the amazing wild sunflowers that grow by the side of all the roads
This was the view from our room on the first morning we were there.
It was just so gorgeous.
And this was my little set up for the week.
Computer center -
Ironing station -
Cutting and Sewing area -
I was pretty much room bound for 4 days. I caught up on a lot of reading and worked on a couple of little projects.
To my amazement there were two quilt shops just yards from each other out there in the middle of nowhere. So next time I'll take you along and visit the Needle in a Haystack and Itchin to Stitch Quilt shops.
Have a Happy Quilting weekend!

How fortunate to have two shops near by...seeing your pictures just reminds me how beautiful America is...
I love travelling by car. My dream is to explore the whole country in a small RV. I'm glad you had everything needed for a home away from home.
Sounds like a great trip. Glorious sunsets/sunrises were probably due to air laden with smoke from the TX and OK fires. How nice to have two nearby quiltshops. Can't wait to hear about them!
Car travel can be fun. We drive to FL from MN and also AZ from MN every winter. You have a great set up to get things done in your room!
Four days in the middle of nowhere with a cool sewing setup and two quilt shops nearby? Sounds like heaven to me!
Love your photos.
Those sunflowers are gorgeous!
We drive. I have no fear of flying, I just don't like to pay for airline tickets for three people and a dog when driving is so much cheaper. :) Plus, I have more control when I drive. I can't exactly make a pilot take a pit stop at mcdonald's.
Life is all about the journey.
I bet your suitcases were a little heavier on the return trip :)
Sounds like a great trip!! Sounds like it was filled with beautiful scenery and surprises!
Road trips are so much fun and you've captured yours with some beautiful pictures. I have a sister who lives in Lebanon Kansas who operates an organic CSA and she loves it there.
Thank you for sharing your road trip with me.
How lovely - my favorite way to travel is to drive, there's so much more to see. Nice job setting up your quilting area!
Sounds like a sweet retreat! What beautiful skies! Thank you for sharing the pictures. Love the sunflowers too!
I can imagine how many miles your trip was.
We didn't see any sunflowers when we drove through Kansas but it was very pretty land and lots of it too.
Great little set up in your room to keep you busy.
It is amazing to travel across the country. The beauty of the USA is awe inspiring. I am so impressed that you took your sewing with you!
Luv your sewing machine. It reminds me of the one my father sent me for a wedding gift. Lovely.
That looks like a featherweight sewing machine? Is it as good as I hear?
I love the Tilda dolls!
