Inspire your Heart

Today is Inspire Your Heart with Art day.  I am not an artist, but with Valentine's Day so close, I thought I would share this quilt with you.

I made this quilt for my late Mother in love several years ago.  She had undergone open heart surgery, and when I found this pattern in a book by Gai Perry, I couldn't resist making it for her.

So go be inspired by something beautiful today.  And be sure to share that beauty with someone else.

Happy Quilting!

January in Florida

So much snow blanketing many parts of the US.  But here in Florida, this is what January looks like.

Good Monday Morning!

I'm sorry that I have been so quiet these past two weeks.  Since the passing of a near and dear family member, there has been a lot going on with arrangements and helping in other ways.  It can be a tiring and emotional time for family members.

But I am here today to announce the winner of my Sock Hop Blog Hop.  Thank you to each one who visited during the blog hop.  It was fun seeing the different patterns made up in the beautiful Island Batik fabrics.  The random generator picked Peggy.  She has an amazing blog called World of Charity Stitching, and I would ask that you stop by and pay her a visit.

The blog consists of an online group who enjoy making and distributing to those in need.  And it appears to be worldwide.

Wishing you a terrific week.  And Happy Quilting!

He is at peace

A man I've known for over 40 years has gone home to be with the Lord on Friday morning.  My dear father in law, 95 years young, left the shackles of this life and is no longer in pain or sorrow.  He deeply missed his wife of almost 70 years when she passed away 3 years ago.  It was so sad to see him mourn the love of his life.  He was a kind, gentle, quiet man, who loved his family and his country.  He served in World War 2, and worked hard to provide for his wife and 5 children.  He enjoyed fishing and bowling, and bowled every Thursday until a stroke brought him down in late October.
He will be missed by his children, 9 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. But we have the blessed assurance that one day we will all be reunited together in heaven.

Beyond All Dreams

Beyond All Dreams

This is the fourth book I've read written by Elizabeth Camden, and every book I've read written by her seems to get better.  Ms Camden is a most intriguing author.  She has certainly done her research and has the ability to transcribes it into a compelling novel.  I found this book most interesting in the two main characters who are so diversely different.  Yet their differences seem to pull them together.  I was drawn in by the powerful congressman and the shy librarian and their budding romance.  Anna did not allow the hotheaded congressman, Luke, quelch her drive in discovering the mystery of the lost ship.

A most fascinating read.  One I could not put down.  If you would like to start your year off reading a good book, I would highly recommend Beyond All Dreams.  Ms. Camden has once again written a winner.

As a reviewer for Bethany House Publishers, I was sent this book for my honest review.

Happy New Year

Auld Lang Syne History

This 18th century poem was written by Robert Burns and is traditionally sung at the moment the clock strikes midnight of the brand new year.
Auld Land Syne actually translates to Good Old Days.

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne

We twa hae run aboot the braes
And pou'd the gowans fine;
we've wander'd mony a weary foot
Sin' auld lang syne

We two hae paidled i' the burn,
Frae mornin' sun till dine;
But seas between us braid hae roar'd
Sin' auld lang syne

And here's a hand, my trusty friend,
And gie's a hand o' thine;
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne

Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?

For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll take a cup o' kindness yet
For auld lang syne

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYONE!
