Things are a little chilly in Florida. We've had freezing weather for a week, with no relief in sight until later next week. And this does affect our crops.
"The problem is that farmers need to protect berries and plants from overnight frost and do that by turning on sprinklers during the night to coat the plants with groundwater or ice to shield them." tbo.com
If you would like to see a really good picture of the crops being sprayed, stop over and visit my friend Shari at My Cottage of Bliss. Shari's hubby took these pictures of the strawberry fields and orange groves.
So as you see even if we don't get any snow in our area, there is still plenty of ice to go around!
Stay warm :-)

Hope it warms up for you soon!! It's been cold, windy and snowy up here in good 'ol Minnesota. Hasn't been above, oh about 5 degrees lately, so at least you're a bit warmer!
Always,
Katy
We had a dusting of snow over night. Still hanging around the shade. Clouds blowing by hope they keep going on out to sea.
We are finally 40 but wind is blowing as if off an iceberg!!!
I remember as a kid in Orlovista they burned pots of smut or some such to keep the orange groves from freezing.
Stay warm inside has to get better...;-)
I really feel bad for those of you down south...you just aren't equipped to deal with these temperatures for such long periods of time. I sure hope it warms up soon!
I'm sorry for the tourists who have headed your way not realising there is a chance of less than balmy temperatures! Keep warm - great photo by the way.
Wow I didn't know that the farmers coat everything with ice. I thought they used smudge pots, very interesting.
Crispy
Keep warm!!!
I wish I could share some of our heat with you...its already 96 F here and its barely 10 am. We are expecting 106 F on Monday!
Interesting that the farmers use sprinklers to protect their crops.
I feel your pain...it's only gonna be a high of 20's tomorrow here in Virginia...grrrrrrrrrrr
I sure hope the crops are ok - we don't need a rise in food prices! I had a friend who owned a citrus grove down there, and he really had to work hard in this weather. Stay warm!
did you get the pkg yet?
Ice in Florida just isn't right!!! We only got a small amount of snow but it was beautiful. I enjoyed a day at home to do some much needed things. Now I can sew!!!
It's a shame the ice and cold harms the crops so much, they look so magical with the ice surrounding them. When I hear about cold weather in Florida I always think of the movie Trading Places where the guys were betting on the orange crops.
Thanks so much for the mention today! I checked my stat counter a few minutes ago and could not believe how much traffic I had from your blog today. Couldn't figure out why until I stopped by to visit you and saw your most recent post!!! LOL. :)
We're driving over to "Hooterville" in the early AM tomorrow (today now!) to work. I think it's definitely going to be an "inside" work day for since it's so darn cold.
Stay warm!
I hope it warms up there soon. I think it's warmer in AZ this year, not usually the case.
I do hope you're keeping warm in a quilt! Are you getting any sewing done in this cold freeze?
Amazing!!! brrr.... I can't get warm up here in TN either!
