I'm still here

Hello all of my sweet blogging friends. Oh how I have missed all of you. I am still here. Still taking pain relievers and basically not doing much.

Three weeks have passed very slowly. I have so appreciated everyone's prayers and thoughts. I've heard back from several of you, which has been an encouragement to my day. I've been able to read my emails on my little iTouch and then my sweet hubby brought a lap top from work so I could read some of your blogs. But some days I get pretty tired.

No real report about my compression fracture. The xrays taken in the ER were too low to see the actual fracture. I went to have an MRI on Wednesday. However, even though I tried twice I could not do it. So at this point I am not really sure what the next step is. My sweet hubby and children have been taking very good care of me. What a blessing they are.

Thank you all so much for your prayers. Please keep them going. And thank you for being such kind caring friends. I long to get back to quilting and blogging once again.

Nice to 'see' you, Jocelyn! I'm so sorry that you're still experiencing pain and discomfort. Sigh! Hopefully you'll have answers and relief soon. (Hugs)

Oh I feel for you! There is nothing like 'constant' pain to bring one to their knees. I don't know if they have you on 'narcotic' pain killers...but if they do please, please be careful. 3 years ago..I too took a fall and they started me on Lortab...then it went to Percocet..and then to morphene and finally to Fentanyl patches. At the beginning of this year...I took the plunge to get off of them. I did it all on my own...took 6 months and was pure hell!! The doctors don't tell a person what they are in for when they start them out on these things. So I am now on a band wagon to keep anybody I can from getting into the situation I did!
(It almost cost me my business and everything I had because I got where I could hardly function!)
My prayers and thoughts are with you!

I'm guessing it wasn't an "open" MRI?? I know of folks who can't do the MRI the traditional way but have done fine with the "open" one. I'm glad to hear from you and hope things continue to get better for you...and QUICKLY.

You poor thing. It sounds like this recovery is going to take quite some time. I hope that you are able to have the MRI done soon in case it can help the doctor's heal you. Hang in there.

Sorry you could not have the MRI taken. Hope rest and time will help heal the fracture. Has to be hard for you not being able to do much of anything at all.
Let me know if there is anything I can send you to read or do with your hands. Hummm will put on my thinking cap.

Hi Jocelyn,
This morning while taking a shower, I thought about you wondering how you were doing. Low and behold, before I can e-mail you, you have posted on your blog. Pain meds are wonderful for the pain, but not so good for cognitive thinking. Take care of yourself! Miss you much!

Take care and get plenty of rest. You can always catch up later. :0)

Still thinking of you and praying for you. Also praying for the loved ones surrounding you because they will not be happy to see you in such pain, and often people will probably ask how YOU are and maybe not give so much thought to those caring for you. Sometime it goes like that too in life.
But you will all be strengthened by this in the end. It will be proving more and more just what a tight family unit you really are.
Lots of love.

More prayers being sent your way Jocelyn. Don't know if open sided MRI with sedation is an option, but it is the only way I can have one.

I do hope your Drs find a solution soon.

Ok. I'm sure everyone is telling you about their medical problems. I hate to go this path, but I hope it helps to give you hope. I had problems with back pain for years and all the "specialists" would do is prescribe pain pills. One Dr finally gave up and told me he wanted to refer me to a pain specialist. I thought it was a psychiastrist for pain...but finally decided to go. I was pleasantly surprised that it was a Dr. who really knew how to deal with chronic pain. I now have better control of the pain and am able to enjoy life. So, my point...ask for a referral to a pain management specialist, or at least go to one at the same time you go to your regular Dr. Might make a difference..did for me.

Still, you are in my heart and prayers and I do so hope you feel 100% better soon!

Look around and find someone with an open MRI machine. I had my hand done back in 2001 in one at one of the ortho drs. here. Saw in paper the other day where another ortho dr group here has one where you can sit or lay in it and it was huge showed five or six of the employees in it in their ad. Forget what type MRI machine they called it...not open but something else yet it was an open MRI

So, nice of you to visit my blog and here you are not feeling well. The word MRI make my stomach seize up, I don't know if I can do another one. Not all Open MRI machines are that open but I did make it in the open one and the tech person put a washcloth over my eyes and man, I prayed A LOT! It is not fun to be in pain and back pain seems to be the worst. God will give you strength and patience, fortunately.

Find an open MRI, it is the best answer to the problem. I got sick literally trying to do the traditional MRI, but the open MRI was a piece of cake.
I am praying for you.
