No green thumb

All summer long I have been seeing people posting on their blogs the abundance of their growing gardens. Apparently there has been lots of canning and freezing of vegetables.

To my dismay, I have tried to grow tomatoes, green beans, zucchini, and green peppers. I only got one tomato before the plant withered. (Two plants actually as one never produced a single tomato.)  All the rest died on the vine.

But the only thing that has bloomed abundantly is my zinnias.

Am I the only one with a black thumb?

My thumbs are as black as yours! My attempts at a vegetable garden were pitiful until I discovered the wonders of lime (rock, not citrus) after a soil test. This year's garden was going great until the summer heat. I just could not water it often enough. Oh well, at least you can smile at your zinnias.

Hello - I moved to Texas from New England. To a desert like climate - I have been trying to grow all kinds of things here with little success! I guess the move turned my green thumb to black!🤣

When we moved I told myself I would not become involved in any type of gardening. It's way to hot in the high desert to be outside working. For some reason roses flourish in this area and there are some beauties in the back yard. However, I leave them to my granddaughter to tend and don't feel a bit guilty. It's too late here to start a vegetable garden this year but she has big plans for next year.

My son had a garden for a couple of years, but the last two years the zucchini rotted on the vine for some reason. We gave up. I have a brown thumb. I can grow dog fur and dust and weeds.
