Lulling Texas

When you enter a quilt shop what is the first thing you look for? Do you look at the fabric? The samples that are on display? Or any tools that may interest you? How about patterns?

We found this little quilt shop in Lulling Texas. I was totally in love.

I bought this pattern because I didn't have anything like it.
So what do you think? Do you have a certain way of visiting quilt shops?

I usually take in the whole thing for a few seconds. It allows me to adjust my expectations on what to find. Does it tend toward modern? Civil war repro? Feed sack prints? Do they carry any needlework supplies? Even shops I get to every few weeks or months can change what they carry.

I have never thought of the way I evaluate a new quilt shop so this interests me quite a bit. I would say that I notice the overall orderliness of the shop first. Then I peruse the fabrics and the displays. I look last up at the walls to see the sample quilts on display. They really capture my fancy, and oftentimes that leads to my making fabric purchases.

I look for smiles, friendliness, greetings from the staff, then projects and inspiration on display, then on to patterns and fabrics.
