I did like that I did not have to wrestle with my fabric as much, but to me, it was harder to visually follow the quilting.
So in the end I will go back to quilting the regular way.
I'd love to hear if anyone tries this. Maybe it just takes time to learn the feel of the machine. And it might be easier if the machine was level with the table. Amy (A Quilting Sheep) sent a link for a youtube about building a table.

Has anyone ever made this table?

Oh my gosh! Thanks for linking to that video! That table setup looks great! I've got the little table that surrounds my machine, but it's not very big in front and behind it, just more out to the side. This looks great! My extra thought would be that I'd need to cut a slot for my knee lifter bar to go through.....I can't give that up! But the rest of that setup looks perfect! I'm heading out to Home Depot this week for that foam board! Thanks a bunch, Jocelyn!
I haven't tried this, but been thinking about it. Seems like it would make it easier for many machines. I look forward to hearing how you like this, as you have more time to try this approach.

Put that link down as one of my favorites...thanks for the heads up..
Oh! I never thought of this! I'll give it a try and let you know...
Oh -- clever! I may give it a try, too -- though I can see how it would be disorienting. Since I don't do a whole lot of machine quilting (yet) maybe I'm the perfect candidate for trying it. Thank you! :)
I have never quilted like that but I must say that having your machine the same height as your table is so fabulous. My new machine came with a table that it sinks into and it has made such a difference!!!!!
I considered turning my machine too but like you my perspective was out of whack. I do want to lower my machine to table height. I think that will make quilting a whole lot easier.
Well, now you know how you like to quilt.
I've been meaning to turn my machine line that as well. Thanks for the heads up that it's going to be awkward. Maybe I can psych myself into thinking it's perfectly normal to sew that way :)
YOU ARE SOOOO BRAVE! I quilt with my credit card.
Well, I think that is so smart. I guess it would take some getting used to. So will you try it again? Your quilting looks great!
I am wondering what this pattern is called with the blue, yellow, and matching print. I would very much like to make one as I have the perfect fabri that I could use. Thanks, Daisy
Can you tell me what the pattern is called for this quilt with the blue, yellow, and the print. I have the perfect fabric to use for this patern. Thanks, Daisy
I had a table made that has a space for my machine to set into. Here's the link to that post:

I was going to make one with DH, but we were swamped at the ranch and the dear man who made it didn't charge much.
