I can't tell you how delighted I am that so many of your comments want to see more of the house and what we are doing with it. This is such an exciting project for us, and we are wanting to do a nice job within our budget. When we first looked at this house, the first thing that I noticed was the lack of color. Every wall was painted gray.
And the white tile has just little bits of a darker color running through the tiles. So my main thought from the beginning was to somehow warm this house up!
So we started looking at paint. But MY oh MY how many shades of paint are available. I was so amazed! We bought little sample cans of paint and painted little areas on the walls. Before long, I was more confused then ever. When we finally decided on a color (Benjamin Moore Shaker Beige), we found out from the painter that the color we "thought" was Shaker Beige was not actually right! He bought a gallon of the right color and put it on the wall next to our sample. Whoa! Someone at the paint store either mixed it wrong or left one color out of the formula. But in the end we liked the "real" Shaker, and went with it.
We have also been spending a lot of time here -
I am SO out of my element in these mega stores :-)
More to come!

Did you see that you won my giveaway??
How exciting! But, I know you will be glad to have everything done so you can settle down and really enjoy this new beautiful home!!!
It must be so exciting. I have to admit I am a bit jealous. I love to decorate. I love looking through magazines (some I subscribe to and the others I take out from the library) to get ideas. There is so much out there, have fun...
Hate those stores. We have B&Q here and my DH could spend hours mooching about looking at power tools and nails and wood and plastic things that do something or other in the bathroom! Yuck. Don't understand why he gets so bored in a quilt shop!!
Do you have Benjamin Moore paint stores there? They have a CAD program that will show what your room will look like with different colors of paints. It's an idea. And if their paint is too expensive just take their color swatches and get something close at a nother store. I hate big stores too.
Oops. Missed a paragraph *LOL* I see you do have Benjamin Moore. Great minds thing alike. Our walls look white but they have a beige tone to them. I like it. Then we can use accents to brighten things up.
My husband and I love the Home Improvement stores.....we even went to them when visiting the US....
How exciting to find the perfect color!!! Those big hardware stores are pretty scary but sure have a lot of cool stuff in them :0)

Paint makes a big impact for little $$$! Those are cheap fixes :) and beautiful to boot!!!
Can't wait to see the results!!!
I love to see all the photos of your house so please keep showing them!
What fun! You've got a beautiful, blank canvas to work with! Enjoying making it your own! :)
Can't wait to see all of your color choices! What fun, a blank canvas to add all of your colors to. Your house is beautiful and I love your laundry room!! I guess we all spend a lot of time there so it's real important!
Hope you are having a wonderful weekend! The quilt projects can wait! :o)
You must be having so much fun getting your home in order. Joe and I love to visit a home improvement store. You are going to have a beautiful home!

How fun, I'm a do it yourself-er so I love to change out the paint and decorate. Gray is a boring color on the walls, I'm sure the Shaker Beige will spice it up a bit. Enjoy the process!
Ugh I hate paint buying, lol, and those mega stores! I'm sure when you get all your things moved in and your art and quilts hung, it will look like a cozy, warm home.
OH my another quilter! I love it! I am an avid quilter but sometimes, life gets in the way:)
I am so, so, so following your darling blog now! Wanna come follow me?
I'd love to have you come along!
I promise I'llbe back into quilting asap! Just let me get through the 6th anniversary day at our home:)

I have to laugh! When we first bought our house we were spending huge amounts of time in the "mega" stores too and I loved it! But, that quickly wore off after about a year and a whole lotta work. lol. Your house is beautiful and it will be so much fun to make it your own with paint colors and carpets, etc. I love painting and can't tell you how many sample jars I've purchased over the years. I paint a 2' x 3' piece of tagboard with the color and then hang it on the walls. That way I can move it around the room to see how the color varies with the changing light and I don't make any huge painting color mistakes! I can't wait to see all the wonderful choices you are going to make.
Thanks so much for visiting "I Owe it All to Him"--It was wonderful to have you there!! This coming weekend, there will be a link party where people can just link up a favorite Bible verse..I hope you will join us!
Hugs,
Cindy

That is exciting, Jocelyn - just imagine you are choosing fabrics for your quilts while you are looking at the paint chips. Your creativity will surely come through then! :)
