The Starlet Spy by Rachel Scott McDaniel is a romantic suspense novel set in 1943 during the height of WW2.
Hollywood actress Amelie Blake is approached by the OSS to uncover and find sensitive information before it falls into enemy hands. Why, she asks, pick her? Because she has always played parts of the dittzy blonde, and it makes a good cover. Plus she is originally from Sweden and they suspect the information is being transferred from Sweden to Germany.
This story was interesting and intriguing. When Amelie meets Finn Ristaffason, she is sure he is in collaboration with the enemy. But Finn sees right through her disguise. And as the relationship grows between the two of them, they learn to trust each other. And of course there is a surprise ending.
This is the first book I've read by McDaniel, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Good clean fiction. Looking forward to reading more of her writings.
I received a complimentary an e-copy of this book through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
