Can there be such a thing as too much shop hopping? Well, I don't actually think so. Last month we had a two week shop hop in our area. We made it to all 8 shops and I even won a small prize :-)
But the ultimate shop hopping was happening last week. You see I left on this-
on Thursday,
went here -
here -
here -
and 8 other shops in Holmes County in Ohio. It is one of the largest Amish communities in Ohio, and every year they have the Amish Shop Hop. This is my fourth time going. My BFF lives near Akron, so we take three days and hit the shops.
We also found some great bargain fabrics here -
It was so exciting to find name brand fabric for $4.99 a yard! Red Rooster, Benartex, P & B, South Sea Imports and lots more. We almost could not get out of there. I had to be really good, because I would be taking things back on a plane :-(
I did get to see a little bit of this -
even though I was a little late for the color change. It was still beautiful.
So that is what I have been doing for the last five days. I had so much fun with my BFF. We talked, and sewed, and talked, and ate, and talked, and sewed, and just had a grand old girlfriend time.
I'll catch up more the next time. I'm glad to be home, although a little tired.
Happy quilting :-)

Gosh darn if it doesn't sound like a wonderful time! Where's the loot?

It is always so nice to spend some time with a sewing friend. Nice to get away and shop shop shop. :o)
Yes.....let's see all the goodies you bought.
Oh my, sounds like the perfect girlfriend trip!
What a hop that was, Jocelyn - so glad to hear you had a grand time! :)
Blessings.
Gotta love the Amish fabric shops.....spent a good part of last week in the Amish (and Mennonite) shops in the Lancaster, PA, area. Their prices can't be beat. I plan to go back frequently now that I've discovered them!!! I'm glad you had a great trip, too. (At least I had a car and could buy a LOT.....no luggage restrictions for me...LOL)
I would dearly love to visit an Amish community and see their quilts. Over the years, all of our fabric stores have disappeared...we have JoAnn's and 3 quilt stores, and that's it for almost the entire county. If I ever get to travel, I'm definitely going to check all the quilt shops along the way. You are a lucky girl...now show us what you got!
That really is the "ultimate" shop hop. Can't wait to see what you bought. Rest up because I think you have a lot of sewing to do, LOL
Loved your post about the Amish shop hop. I was back in that area in July of 2008. I recognize the first shop on your post - Miller's Dry Goods. That was a fun store.
It sounds like you had a great time.....now lets see the loot.
Good for you! What fun to go to all of those shops (good therapy!). ; )

P.S. Like your KJV Bible verse on the sidebar.
Sounds like an absolutely fantastic trip! I'm jealous!
Oh you lucky ducky! A BFF and Amish Country! Sounds like a dream to me.

The last shop hop I participated in I covered over 300 miles in two days and visited about 26 quilt shops. Talk about exhausting! Lots of fun though. One of the complaints I often hear about our shop hops is that the shops are not allowed to have sales during the event. Kind of puts a damper on everyone's pocketbook, but fun nonetheless.
