Wile away the hours

Thank you for all the well wishes for the recovery from my recent fall. I've had a lot of time on my hands since then. Besides going to Physical Therapy, I have cleaned out closets, did some sorting of things to go to Goodwill, and some reading. I do things as I am able, as I don't have the endurance as before. Plus there is still the pain to deal with. But I have tried to fill my days profitably.

Before my accident, I had started a small vegetable garden, but I have tried to maintain that. I don't have a green thumb so success has been hit or miss. I did get some tomatoes and cucumbers.

I also finished two puzzles. I find that is good to keep my mind busy.

I forgot to take a picture of the first one before I put it all away. I enjoy these little puzzles. I bought two more to work on.

Doing some reading but I find that it is hard to keep interest. Many stories are so much the same. In the evenings I go to YouTube and watch movies. The hardest thing to deal with is not being about to sleep. Some nights I fall asleep only to wake up a couple of hours later and can't go back.  I'm still not driving but have been trying to walk a bit in the evenings. Maybe when I start driving again I won't feel so isolated.

How are things going with you? What projects are you working on?

Sorry the healing is going slow. I haven't read fiction in a long time, as you say - same story, different wrapping.
I just got the last of the plants (tomatoes, peppers, okra) in the garden a couple of days ago. No seeds planted, not sure they will be. It will be quite a while before I get anything. IF I get anything. And it's really hard to convince myself the pain is worth going out to do the weeding I'm so far behind on.
My current projects - a large quilt for DS, kitting up a couple of small cross stitch projects, a QOV top I should get started, lots of thinking "I should" while reading blogs :-)
I like the fabric combination you used on your tote bag in the last post.

I read your blog all the time but haven't commented on you shoulder injury. I have prayed for a fast recovery for you. A year ago last January I fell off my bike. My bones are very strong. Living on acreage and hauling hay and grain for 40+ years did that. I was trying to race up a hill and fell sideways and down hill on my left side. Crushed the ligaments and muscle in right thigh. It has been a long recovery because of weakness and pain walking. Of course there are pain meds but they only take the edge off and are bad for kidneys. BUT..after all this time I am getting better and stronger and walking. Exercise, even when it hurts, I think is a key factor to building the muscle. As you said, the isolation has been the worst. We took drives to the mountains or beach but not being able to walk canceled out the joy. Just know you will recover fully!! May the Lord bless you.
