This past weekend turned out to be a hunters delight. Hunting for antiques that is. There were four of us gals, left to amuse ourselves while our guys were all deep in meetings for three whole days. We searched on the computer for a LQS, and found that the closest one was 1 1/2 hours away! So what were we to do?? After very careful deliberation, we decided that it would be absolutely necessary to make the 1 1/2 hour drive to the designated Quilt shop, and then work our way back, visiting any and all Antique malls, or junk shops we could find along the way.
From the sneak peek that I shared with you yesterday, here are some of the things that we rescued. It was so sad to see many once very loved items that have been discarded. We felt that it was our "green" duty to recycle and reuse.
My dear daughter found this beautiful set of pillowcases, perfectly embroidered and in very good condition.
She also found these old restaurant mugs and coffee creamer. They remind me of Mayberry. As a matter of fact, the town we found it in was just like Mayberry. We kept expecting to see Andy and Barney walking down the street.
I found this cute little dishcloth with the duck embroidery. Love those days of the week!
A sweet apron with white rick rack! I love the blue fabric. Someone made lots of apple pies and cakes wearing this apron.
My daughter scooped up this wonderful old quilt. I have been trying to date the fabrics, and I think it would be 30's or 40's. The colors are so soft and each block is different. Lovely find.
Each day that we headed out, we found new and some very rewarding places to stop. One of the shops in the little town where we were staying was called "Treasures". That store held our greatest treasure. This is what we found at "Treasures".
One white trunk in very good condition.
Inside of the trunk.
And this is what the trunk looked like when we were going home!
woo-hoo...... more to share tomorrow!
And then there is fleece...

I love all your treasures you found. That is one thing I miss the most is going out and treasure hunting for the shop. Hope to get started again. The linens are so special, can just see the ladies stitching them.
