Do you know what day it is today??

Today is a special day. Here are a few reasons why.

First off, I found a neat background for my blog. I love Freebies for Crafters blog site, and yesterday they listed My Blog Makeover. I have looked at different backgrounds before, but some are too busy, or too much color, or just too much! But I liked this "Pastel Colors" background, so I thought I would give it a try. You know I can always take it off, or change it sometime. Tell me what you think? Does it look like a Happy Cottage Quilter??

Secondly, or maybe this should have been firstly, this is a very special day in history. At least in our family history. 90 years ago today a very special baby was born. He grew up to be a very kind man who turned out to my dear sweet hubby's Dad. My father in love has to be one of the nicest people that I have ever known. He has worked hard all of his life, been a loving husband and father, he has a funny sense of humor, and everyone who meets him likes him right away. He has a very tender heart, which does not make him any less manly. He fought for our country in World War II, which he never talks about. Sometimes these are painful things that are better left unshared. At 90 years old, he still bowls once a week, works in his yard, and takes care of his wife of 67 years. His faith is strong but in a quiet way. He loves his children, grandchildren, and his great grandchildren.

Don't you want to be fishing like this off of the dock when you are 90 years old??

And now.............. drum roll please.......................

Mama Hen, bring that giveaway prize over here for all to see.

And the winner is......................

Let me start with a hearty congratulation and a happy birthday wish for your father in love. I think it's wonderful that he is so active and happily married at age 90!

Secondly, I DO like your background. It's light and not "too much".

Congratulations to JoAnn on her winning the giveaway!

Have a great Saturday and a wonderful weekend.

Hugs

This is a nice background. I know what you mean about looking at a lot of them, I did too. VandCo had a nice tutorial on how to put up some backgrounds on here too.
Happy Birthday to your Father In Love, as you called him and it sounds much nicer than In Law.

The background is wonderful, fun & bright, Jocelyn. Looks like a feedsack (ok, ok! I know) fabric print of yore.

Please tell father in love that we wish him Happy Fishing Birthday & many more. God bless him.

A very Happy Birthday to you father in love AND absolutely I want to be fishing like that when I am his age. What a wonderful picture!!! I AM going fishing next week for our 41st anniversary and though I am a ways (not a very long ways) from 90, I know that when I make my first cast, your dear father in love will pop into my mind, no doubt about it, thank you for that, it will be a wonderful thing to be pondering as I throw my line out...imagining being up there, doing the same thing when I reach that wonderfully young but wise age. Now, secondly, I really love the new background, it is so cheerful and it makes me smile. Last but not least, Congratulations to the lucky winner of your delightful giveaway. Honestly, it was a pleasure just joining in the fun, you make it so enjoyable that it doesn't matter if I don't win. (Well, I would be elated if I won of course, but you make it so that it isn't just about winning, and that too makes me smile)Thank you also for that!!!
