Busy hands

We've had company staying with us this week, so there has not been much quilting going on in my little sewing area. However, my daughters friend likes to crochet, so there's been busy hands crocheting during the visit.

Here is what my dear daughter finished this week.

And her friend's hands have been busy doing this.....

Now years ago, MANY years ago, someone taught me how to knit. I have long forgotten how to knit and pearl, but recently came across some knitting needles and a book "Teach Yourself to Knit". Which made me want to try my hand at knitting again. Is it doable??

I bought a skein of yarn at the thrift store the other day, thinking that maybe I would give it a try. Okay girls, how hard can it be?? Nothing ventured, nothing gained :-)

Happy quilting (knitting?)

You can do it! I LOVE to knit, but it loses out in favor of quilting; now and then, I still pick it up as something different to do -- I have two different afghans in the works right now. I've made all kinds of stuff -- DO IT!!!! You'll love it!

Oh, enjoy your knitting journey - I tried to learn a few years ago and failed. You'll do great.

Don't look at me for advice, sweet friend ... I couldn't get those 2 needles to EVER create anything for me!

I have that book and it really is a good one to refresh your memory with. I would also suggest a few you-tube searches to see it 'live and in action'. But you can do it! (Although I would suggest learning continental style if you can. You can knit much faster. I learned the traditional way and haven't been able to make the transition!)

I know how to knit and pearl, but that's as far as it goes. The arthritis in my hands is so bad now that I don't know if I could do it if I tried. I also know a little about crocheting, but not enough to really make anything. Once you've known how to knit a little though, it should come back easily.

I used to knit (and crochet) a lot. I just don't have the patience anymore I think is the problem. I remember how to do it no problem. You'll enjoy it. I just get myself going to fast to enjoy it. Your daughter's afghan is beautiful

It's wonderful that the girls keep their hands busy...idle hands and all that. Love your daughter's blanket.

I learned to knit before I learned to crochet, I kept trying to leave lots of stitches on the crochet hook LOL. I know you can get the hang of knitting again :)

Love your daughter's afghan! I used to love to crochet but it got too hard on my hands. Quilting doesn't seem to bother them though. I never could learn to knit - love it, but can't do it any justice, lol.

My mother was a beautiful knitter, sadly I didnt inherit that particular gene ! I do like to crochet though and have recently started some squares to make a blanket. Good luck with you knitting.
